No daily increase, not no risk

According to Wednesday's press conference on COVID-19, previous prevention and control in Chongqing have achieved initial results, and it continues to develop in a positive trend, thanks to the concerted efforts of the whole society.

The number of new infections per day in Chongqing has gradually decreased from the highest number of 41 cases to the recent single-digits and reached zero on Tuesday. However, no daily increase does not mean no risk. It is fair to say that the current epidemic situation is still severe and complicated, and epidemic prevention and control remain at a critical stage. There are also a certain number of close contacts and asymptomatic infections in Chongqing, and there could be more confirmed cases. Sporadic cases are possible in the community. Moreover, the undergoing resumption of production and work means more pressure on epidemic prevention and control.

Based on that, differentiated measures will continue to implement. The general public should not take the epidemic lightly. Perform preventive actions, wash hands frequently, avoid crowds, wear masks in congested areas, get proper ventilation, and so on. Seek timely medical care if symptoms such as fever, cough, and shortness of breath occur.

325 major municipal projects resume work

This year, Chongqing has further improved its major project promotion mechanism and established a municipal major project work leading group.

In the list of major municipal projects in 2020, there are 924 major construction projects with a total investment of about 2.7 trillion yuan and an annual planned investment of about 340 billion yuan. It will play a key role in striving to overcome the impact of the epidemic, stabilize investment growth, and stabilize economic growth.  These major construction projects in 2020 involve five significant areas: rural revitalization, infrastructure, industrial development, livelihood security, and regional coordination. As of Wednesday noon, a total of 325 major municipal projects have resumed work or started construction, both accounting for 35.2%.

As of Wednesday noon, 22 key transportation projects in Chongqing had resumed work, and the rate of returning to work reached 50%. Among them, there are five railway projects, 12 highway projects, three water transport projects, and two airport projects. According to the plan, more than 80% of critical projects will resume construction before the end of this month.

Statistics showed that 24 of the 68 significant projects in the five key urban construction areas of rail transit, urban road bridges and tunnels, two rivers and four banks, clear water, and green banks, and sewage treatment, had resumed work as of February 24.
