Resumption of Work | Inside a Korean Firm after Coronavirus Shutdown

Chongqing - Korean Firm Chongqing S-Tech resumes production

Although COVID-19 remains a dark cloud on the horizon, the situation in Chongqing has stabilized, with few new cases reported. Therefore, as of February 26th, over 10,000 companies had restarted production.

iChongqing recently visited Chongqing S-Tech Co Ltd, a Korean manufacturer of polariser sheets in Bishan District, so that we could report first hand on the difficulties they faced, and the current state of production.

Bishan Hi-Tech Industrial Park is home to 40 foreign enterprises, and the development chief Mr. Liu Wenyue explained to iChongqing in an interview, that S-Tech Co Limited is one of 30 that have resumed production. Moreover, Bishan ranks among the highest in Chongqing Municipality for the number of companies in business and employees back at work.

General manager Lee Seokgu and deputy manager Lee Changhun both warmly accompanied iChongqing on our visit. We toured the factory, including the dust particle-free production floor, in order for them to better explain how the outbreak has affected business.

Their high profile customers include Hewlett-Packard, BOE Tech Group and Caihong Optoelectronics. At the same time, they have material suppliers like LG Chemicals, so manager Lee Seokgu explains how the epidemic has affected the chain of supply and delivery.

As production continues to resume, we at iChongqing will continue to bring you the latest developments on the ground.
