COVID-19 Update: China Attaches Great Importance to the Safety and Health of Foreign Nationals in China

Xinhua reported that the Chinese health authority on Friday demanded continued prevention efforts in communities, workplaces, and households to guard against an epidemic rebound as the country faces rising risks of imported COVID-19 cases."With a growing number of imported cases, China is still facing risks of sporadic locally-transmitted cases and even local outbreaks of COVID-19," said Mi Feng, spokesperson for the National Health Commission (NHC), at a press conference.

The Chinese mainland reported 31 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 Thursday, according to the NHC April 2. And 29 of them were imported cases, bringing the total number of its kind to 870. Also, on Thursday, 60 new asymptomatic COVID-19 cases were reported on the mainland. At the same time, seven were confirmed of being infected with the virus, and 101 were discharged from medical observation, according to the NHC. A total of 1,027 asymptomatic-infected patients were still under medical observation. The overall confirmed cases on the mainland had reached 81,620 by the end of Thursday, including 1,727 patients who were still being treated, altogether 76,571 patients who had been discharged after recovery, and 3,322 people who died of the disease. By Thursday, 802 confirmed cases, including four deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), 41 confirmed cases in the Macao SAR, and 339 in Taiwan, including five deaths. A total of 154 patients in Hong Kong, ten in Macao, and 50 in Taiwan had been discharged from hospitals after recovery.
