China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity (CCI) launched a new project. On May 12, the China-Singapore International Supercomputing Center settled in Liangjiang New Area. The center will be based on the complete infrastructure in Liangjiang International Cloud Computing Industrial Park, provide supercomputing services for finance, logistics, energy, and meteorology, which will facilitate the implementation of CCI.

Notably, the center is the first purely commercial supercomputing center in China, as well as the first international supercomputing center in western China.
The project was jointly launched by the Chongqing branch of China Mobile, National Supercomputing Center, Wuxi (NSCC-Wuxi), MGN Digital Pte Ltd., Archanan, and Universe Supercomputing (Chongqing) Technology Co., Ltd.
With a planned investment of 300 million yuan, the project will be divided into two phases: the first phase can realize a computing performance of 8.7 quadrillion times per second (8.7PFlop/s), and the second phase can realize a computing performance of 38 quadrillion times per second. It will mainly provide supercomputing services to international and southwest China clients in the fields of scientific research, finance, logistics, energy and meteorology, and build a collaborative innovation service platform.
In addition, the center will cooperate with international giants to conduct R&D of supercomputing artificial intelligence (AI) and 5G and focus on building typical application scenarios such as epidemic prevention and control track, Edge Computing in the Industrial Internet and smart city. It will strive to start trial operations this year.
