China’s First House-Building Machine Debuts in Chongqing

On July 14, the first machine for house building independently developed by China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd. was unveiled in Chongqing. Its jacking height can reach 3 meters in 80 minutes and a floor built in 3 days at the fastest, to protect the workers from being exposed to the sun and rain. The lightweight, industrialized house-building machine becomes a new example in China's housing construction, and is particularly suitable for the construction of high-rise buildings over 100 meters.

Wang Lei, deputy manager of the Technical Development Department of the Engineering Technology Research Institute of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd., said that the machine, 270 tons heavy, can achieve the overall construction of vertical structures and floor slabs at the same time. Compared with the aerial building machine, it is over 70% lighter and more practical.

The jacking technology, the most critical to the machine, is highly intelligent. It has replaced the high-power, long-stroke jacking method with the small-cylinder short-stroke one. The seemingly complicated jacking requires only one manager with one click from the control room. The jacking height can reach 3 meters in 80 minutes.

"With traditional scaffolding, to build one floor usually takes seven days, but the house-building machine only three days at the fastest," said Wang Lei. The machine is equipped with an external protective frame, a foldable awning, a remote concrete spreader, and a spray line, effectively improving the efficiency of construction.

Zhang Zhihua, deputy general manager of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd. (Southwest), said that the use of the house-building machine is revolutionary and pioneering to the industrialization and integration of China's construction industry.
