Chongqing’s Friend Dióssi Lóránd: I will Continue Telling Chongqing Stories

Chongqing - The Hungarian Consulate General in Chongqing hosted the Hungarian National Day and the 10th Anniversary of the Hungarian Consulate General in Chongqing and the farewell reception for the departure of Consul General Dióssi Lóránd on August 14, 2020. Li Bo, Deputy Mayor of Chongqing, Wang Kuiwan, Deputy Secretary-General of Chongqing Municipal Government, Zhang Yongwu, Director of Chongqing Foreign Affairs Office, relevant representatives from universities and enterprises in Chongqing attended the event.

Dióssi Lóránd recalled the fond memories and the precious friendship he had gained during his four and a half years in Chongqing. He said, "With good friends, the road is not far to go."For this period in Chongqing, he and his friends have experienced and witnessed the milestones and cooperation achievements in the development of Hungary-China relations and Hungary-Chongqing relations.

“Since 2016, Hungary has been the guest of honor for important exhibitions for six times and has facilitated visits by high-level delegations including the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Parliament of the Hungarian Foreign Minister and the Minister of Innovation and Technology. In addition, the Hungarian Cultural Festival in Western China was held twice a year. With the establishment of the Hungary-China Technology Transfer Center and the Hungarian-China Food Joint R&D Center, the establishment of the Hungarian language majors in Chongqing, Chengdu, and Xi’an, and the opening of direct flights to Budapest and the cooperation in sports such as kayaking and equestrianism will further strengthen the contacts and trade exchanges between Hungary and western China", said Dióssi Lóránd.

He cried with moving tears: “no matter where I go, I will continue to tell Chongqing stories” at his last open speech as Consul General in Chongqing.

During the event, Li Bo, Vice Mayor of Chongqing, also awarded Consul General Dióssi Lóránd with the "Chongqing Friendship Envoy Certificate".
