2020 Chongqing International Culture & Tourism Industry Expo will commence next month

Chongqing- The 2020 Chongqing International Culture & Tourism Industry Expo will commence in mid-October, including ten theme exhibitions, online and offline exhibitions, Chengdu-Chongqing Twin-City Summit Forum, and Cultural Tourism Summit to augment the city’s developing capacity, to boost the construction of Chengdu-Chongqing Twin-City Economic Circle, and improve international influence.

Ten theme exhibitions

The 2020 Chongqing International Culture & Tourism Industry Expo is the upgraded version of Chongqing International Culture Industry Expo; to achieve communication, trade, and integration of culture and tourism, it will commence at the North Hall of Chongqing International Expo Center from October 15 to October 18. There will be ten theme pavilions with a planned area of 30,000 square meters.

“Chongqing Showcase” pavilion will display the fruitful results of the large-scale culture and tourism promotion activity “2020 Chongqing Showcase”. Cultural tourism interactive pavilion contains cultural tourism + education, cultural tourism + finance, and cultural tourism + technology. It will present smart tourism to audiences by bringing immersive experiences to them. The animation and game experience pavilion includes popular game competition, cosplay, and Han-culture setting show to attract fans for cartoons and games to participate. The trade pavilion of traditional art wares will display traditional folk craftsmanship and fruitful results of intangible cultural heritage, and meanwhile, the “Craftsman Cup” Handicraft Appraisal will be held. The aesthetic art pavilion will display modern, fashionable, and creative cultural products and artworks, which will boost Chinese fashion products, paintings, and calligraphy to enter the international stage. Moreover, the BRI exchange pavilion, the city demonstration pavilion of the Sichuan-Chongqing region, the industrial Innovation pavilion, the art and culture pavilion, and the performance culture pavilion.

Apart from exhibitions, the Cultural Tourism Summit forum of Chengdu-Chongqing Twin-City Economic Circle and the 3 rd T12 West China Development Summit of Culture and Tourism, a series of summits about the development of culture and tourism, and promotion activities will be held.

Three highlights

“Compared with previous cultural Industry expos, this culture & tourism industry, expo doesn’t only change its name but also takes on three highlights.” Someone in charge of the organizing committee said.

First of all, it sets up the city demonstration pavilion of the Sichuan-Chongqing region to strengthen the exchange and cooperation of Chengdu-Chongqing Twin-City Economic Circle in culture and tourism. With the theme of “National Strategy, Twin-City Interaction,” the pavilion highlights synergistic development and collaboration in the culture and tourism of cities in the Sichuan-Chongqing region. It exhibits innovative development achievements of the culture and tourism industry of cities in the Chengdu-Chongqing region. Meanwhile, achievements of key provinces and autonomous regions of West China, cities along the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and coastal cities will be displayed.

In addition, Keynote speeches by famous domestic experts and scholars, and round-table salon will be held to discuss the construction of Chengdu-Chongqing Twin-City Economic Circle and the trend of the integration of culture and tourism and industry development in the new era. Chongqing International Culture & Tourism Industry Expo will be built as a new platform to implement the national strategy and a name card of culture and tourism to demonstrate achievements of reforms in the new era.

Secondly, the Expo will display a series of fruitful results of “The 2020 Chongqing Showcase”. The select products from all districts and counties will be on exhibition and for sale.

Thirdly, it’s the first time to host “Culture & Tourism Industry Expo Online.” Through the online Expo, exhibitors can update the information of exhibits in time and promote online trade by linking with “Online Culture and Tourism Hall” set up by Chongqing’s districts and counties.

“Culture & Tourism Industry Expo Online,” lasting from October 12 to October 31 st, will “move” the offline exhibition to the online Expo and bring immersive experiences to online participants. What’s more, more comprehensive services like online sales, digital exhibition hall, online conference, smart transportation, smart guidance, and so forth will be added to “Culture & Tourism Industry Expo Online.”

Improving international influence

Due to COVID-19, the culture and tourism industry has suffered an unprecedented impact this year. Now for the epidemic in China has been under control, shoring up and recovering consumption in culture and tourism is a significant task. On the one hand, the 2020 Chongqing International Culture & Tourism Industry Expo will facilitate trade and exchange in the culture and tourism industry and accelerate the high-quality development of the industry; on the other hand, it will step up the construction of the Bashu Culture & Tourism Corridor and Chengdu-Chongqing Twin-City Economic Circle.

The BRI exchange pavilion is set up at the offline Expo. Foreign embassies, consulates-general in Chengdu and Chongqing, and international organizations will participate in the exhibition. These participant countries and organizations include Japan, Australia, Hungary, the Republic of Lithuania, Pakistan, Uruguay, Israel, the Czech Republic, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, etc. Contents like traditional handicrafts, creative designs, intangible cultural heritage, culture and tourism, culture and education, films and performances of these countries will be put on display.” “Their participation will not only add more international elements to the expo but help us make more friends and improve the international influence of our city as well.” The person in charge said.
