Lantern Show Kicks off at South Hot Spring Park

Chongqing's South Hot Spring Park started a five-month-long lantern show on Sept. 28, According to the Banan District Commission of Culture and Tourism Development. Citizens are advised to take the shuttle bus provided by the show's organizer in the appliance with the traffic control measures.

The lantern show bases its design on the beautiful natural landscape and geographical features of the South Hot Spring Park, as well as the Bayu traditional culture history. It combines light, shadow, water, swimming, performances, fog, and other sound and light effects with modern high-tech 5D technologies. It is set alongside a 2-kilometer-long route from the South Hot Spring Park to the former site of Chongqing Tenth Middle School with the tour time of about 90 minutes.

The lantern show will last until the end of February 2021, connecting such traditional festivals as the Mid-Autumn Festival, National Day, Double Ninth Festival, New Year's Day, Spring Festival, and Lantern Festival.

To ensure a safe and orderly environment for people coming to the lantern show, please pay attention to the following things:

No on-site ticket office

Designated ticketing platforms: Two WeChat official accounts, namely "South Hot Spring Park Lantern Show" and "Chongqing South Hot Spring Park." Tickets will not be sold on-site, and visitors with no tickets are not allowed to enter the exhibition area.

Ticket Price: 80 yuan/person

Group Price: 50–100 tickets, 20% off; 101–500 tickets, 30% off; 500 tickets or more, 32% off

Preferential tickets: Seniors at or above 70 years old (with their own resident ID card), active military personnel (with the certificate of an officer or a soldier), medical staff (with the certificate of a doctor or a nurse), and the disabled (with a disability certificate) enjoy a half-price discount. Children at or below 1.2 meters tall are allowed to enter the park without tickets.

Tips for a self-drive tour

To avoid traffic congestion during the event, visitors who drive by themselves are requested to place their cars at the outer parking lot, and then take the provided shuttle bus to the exhibition area. Visitors can find a surrounding public parking lot through map navigation software such as Gaode and Baidu.

Outer parking lots

(1) Longzhou Bay Social Parking Lot, located near Chongqing Banan Wanda Plaza, can accommodate more than 1,000 social vehicles;

(2) The Parking Lot of Qiaoping Renjia Public Rental Housing, situated in the direction of Jieshi, boasts more than 800 parking spots for social vehicles;

(3) The Chongqing-Guizhou Logistics Market Parking Lot, lying near the intersection of Nanquan Expressway, can provide parking services for more than 100 social cars simultaneously.

Shuttle buses for the festival

Running time: 15:00–18:00, 20 minutes/shift, depart when full; 18:00–23:00, 10 minutes/shift, depart when full.

Ticket price: 2 yuan/person; visitors with lantern festival tickets could enjoy a free ride.

Tips for public transportation

Chongqing Rail Transit: Visitors can take CRT Line 3 to Huaxi Station, and then transfer to the park by bus (public bus or the festival's shuttle bus).

Bus: No. 309, Mid Banan Avenue–Jieshi, 06:00–21:00; No. 327, Mid Banan Avenue–Lujiao, 06:15–20:00; No. 314, Nanping Hub Station–Shilong, 06:00–10:20.

Notice of epidemic prevention and control

  • Due to the need for epidemic prevention and control, this lantern festival will strictly implement online real-name reservations. Tourists are requested to purchase tickets online in advance and enter the park on the day of ticket purchase.
  • Visitors from medium- or high-risk areas in China need to show the COVID-19 negative certificate of nucleic acid test conducted within seven days since their arrival at Chongqing or show a health QR code containing information on a negative nucleic acid test result before entering the park; those who from low-risk areas in China could enter the park after showing their health QR code.
