2020 CICTIE to Open on October 15, with Ten Theme Exhibitions

The offline 2020 Chongqing International Culture & Tourism Industry Expo (CICTIE) will start in Chongqing International Expo Center's northern exhibition hall from October 15 to 18. The theme exhibition, organized in ten major venues, will open on a total area of 30,000 square meters.

The CICTIE organizing committee has arranged various activities, enabling citizens and tourists to enjoy a distinctive cultural tourism feast.

Forum: Chengdu and Chongqing to discuss the integrated development plans

The Chengdu-Chongqing Twin-City Economic Circle Summit Forum on Culture-Tourism Integration & the 3rd T12 Western China Culture and Tourism Industry Development Summit will be held in Chongqing International Expo Center beginning at 14:00 on October 15.

The 2020 CICTIE will start at Chongqing International Expo Center from October 15 to 18.

During the event, some well-known experts, scholars, and officials from China’s culture and tourism industries and Sichuan and Chongqing will be invited to give keynote speeches and go to round-table salons to discuss the building of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, culture-tourism integration, and the development trajectory of the industries in the new era. Meanwhile, local governments and well-known culture and tourism enterprises in western Chinese provinces/prefectures /municipalities, including Sichuan and Chongqing, will also be invited to promote and share the valuable experiences of culture-tourism integration destinations and the two industries, and to provide development and innovation ideas.

Hanfu: Dialogue with the ancient times through clothing

The Model Contest for Splendid Hanfu, co-organized by the Hanfu Culture Research and Performance Committee of the Chongqing Confucius and Confucian Philosophy Studies Association, Chongqing Chengjun Culture Communication Co., Ltd., and Five-dimension Culture and Art Development Co., Ltd. (Chongqing), will be launched offline at the exhibition area of CICTIE.

By then, 130 hanfu lovers from Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, Guangdong, Anhui, Henan, Beijing, Hunan, Shaanxi, and other places will gather at the CICTIE to bring a feast of clothing for locals in Chongqing and tourists, which is expected to show the beauty of traditional Chinese culture physically.

New Year paintings: Appreciating selected intangible cultural heritage—Bashu New Year paintings

There are numerous New Year paintings, including Liang Ping New Year painting Door-gods, Mianzhu New Year painting Birthday Regards from the Beauty, and Jiajiang New Year painting Gan Pan, among others. This year, CICTIE will also hold the Colorful Bashu with Chinese Characteristics-Liang Ping, Mianzhu, Jiajiang New Year Paintings, and the New Year Painting Exhibition of Chinese National-level Intangible Cultural Heritage.

In last year's Chongqing International Culture & Tourism Industry Expo, citizens loved DIY bonsai.

According to Li Lian, the organizer of this year’s New Year Painting Exhibition and the former curator of the Folk Art Museum, some masterpieces of national intangible cultural heritage from more than ten places in China will also be displayed. At the special sharing sessions, the audience will be introduced to the historical origins, artistic features, and production techniques of New Year paintings in Liang Ping, Mianzhu, and Jiajiang. Meanwhile, award-winning interaction activities incorporating relevant knowledge of the New Year paintings will follow. 

Chinese folk art: Two art troupes to bring wonderful performances

Although they cannot hear outside voices, they can still show a beautiful life by dancing. Although they cannot see the world, they can still sing for dreams in the dark. From October 15 to 17, the 2020 Chongqing Special Art Tour, hosted by Chongqing Disabled Persons’ Federation, will be held offline in the exhibition area of CICTIE. The art troupes performers will bring more than 10 wonderful performances, including the group dance Mountain and Flowing Water, the musical play Devotion of Love, and the modern Peking opera Ode to Pear Blossoms.

At the Chinese folk art special session on October 16, Chongqing Folk Art Troupe will also bring the song Break the Kuimen Gate played with Sichuan Yangqin, a national intangible cultural heritage, Sichuan Qingyin song Kite Flying, and modern new folk music Glory.
