Dadukou District: Creating the Yangtze River Culture and Art Area

Chongqing- On November 2, the press conference about the City of Culture construction was held in Chongqing. To promote the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Culture and Art Area, Dadukou will create the City of Culture in the southern region.

To create a music peninsula

At the conference, Dadukou is creating the City of Culture in the southern region, according to the concept of “Three Areas in Different Aspects.”

Three areas, namely the Yangtze River Culture and Art Area, Funiuxi Sports Culture Area, and Jin'ao Mountain Buddhism Pastoral Culture Area. Among them, the Yangtze River Culture and Art Area is the core and focus for constructing the City of Culture. This area's coastline is about 25 kilometers long, with a total area of about 26.6 square kilometers. The coastline in the Dadukou area is 18.4 kilometers long and has 19.38 square kilometers, which accounts for about 3/4 of the total area in Dadukou.

Meanwhile, there are three sections of the Yangtze River Culture and Art Area. Among them, in the Diaoyuzui Music Peninsula, the district will promote the construction of major functional facilities, such as the Yangtze River Concert Hall and the Yangtze River Conservatory of Music. In this way, this place will attract the development of the music industry and music talents, build a high-quality music peninsula, and create a bright musical art area on the Yangtze River's upper reaches. Simultaneously, the district will promote the implementation of the projects, improving the industrial culture, industrial design, and other related industries, therefore, establishing the industrial culture and art area in the old factory area. In addition, Dadukou is trying to complete the transformation and upgrading of traditional logistics enterprises to develop an integration development zone of the music city in the Qiezixi area.

After preliminary analysis, there are still 44 industrial relics in Dadukou District that can be developed and excavated, such as Baishatuo Old Street built in the Republic of China, and the former site of the 21st Arsenal of the Military Industry Department. Every department and company will follow the concept of “Three Areas in Different Aspects” to develop and improve tourism and cultural aspects.

To build five industrial bases

Focusing on the construction goal of the City of Culture in the southern region, Dadukou District will highlight the three major carriers of major functional project construction, the introduction of emerging industries, and cultural festival activities to promote the development of diversified integration of industry, city, culture, and tourism.

To this end, Dadukou District will focus on the construction of five major industrial bases.

To build a music industry base, with Diaoyuzui Music Peninsula as the core, Dadukou will focus on developing music production, training, and copyright trading. It will also concentrate on the mainstream media music platforms’ 5G industry headquarters and audio production, online audio and video, and other related industries to build the largest music supplies market and a national music industry base in the western region.

In terms of sports industry base, Dadukou will build a comprehensive sports base that integrates sports education, training, competitions, and more. Meanwhile, the district will use 36 kilometers of river banks, riverside roads, urban and rural areas, and other characteristic resources to develop outdoor sports, leisure, and tourism-related industries vigorously. In this way, the first choice for domestic outdoor sports destinations can be created.

For the culture industry base, relying on the diverse and profound industrial history and culture, Dadukou will develop industrial culture, industrial design, and various cultural and creative enterprises.

Regarding the leisure tourism industry base, following the concept of all-for-one tourism development, relying on 36 kilometers of the Yangtze River coastline and heavy industrial area, the district is going to create a riverside cultural tourism area, connecting Chongqing Industrial Culture Expo Park, Yidu Ancient Town, and so on. At the same time, creating a rural landscape leisure tourism area by making full use of the natural scenery resources of Jin'ao Mountain. Moreover, the district will use resources, such as Baishatuo Old Street and the Second Yangtze River Bridge, to create a characteristic leisure area for an outdoor cultural tourism experience.

Additionally, for the Internet entertainment industry base, Kuaishou (Chongqing) Innovation Center settled in Dadukou in July this year. It is the first innovation center authorized by Kuaishou in China, and it has officially settled in the headquarters building of Tian'an Digital City in Dadukou District.

Furthermore, Dadukou District will deepen cooperation with music institutions, such as Modern Sky, continuously holding the three major music festivals – Strawberry Music Festival, Spring Wave Music Festival, and Midi Music Festival. At the same time, it will cultivate local music brands, such as the Crossing CRT Line 2 Music Festival, and actively conduct various types of music cultural activities, like forums, exhibitions, and music festivals.
