Chongqing- The 8th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo was held at the Venice Macao People Conference from Nov. 5 to 9. The culture and tourism authorities of Chongqing and Sichuan joined hands from day one to inaugurate the “Bashu Culture and Tourism Corridor” pavilions and later on the 7th jointly convened a seminar to promote the culture and tourism resources in the municipality and province.

The Chongqing Municipal Culture and Tourism Development Commission arranged for relevant county/district authorities and scenic areas to participate in the expo, and will launch a week-long culture and tourism resources promotion campaign with both online and offline forms, so as to fully introduce the “city of mountains and waters, land of beauties and blessings.”
To continue the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, a national-level economic development strategy for the Western Region, and to actively build up the brand of “Bashu Culture and Tourism Corridor,” the Chongqing Municipal Culture and Tourism Development Commission joined hands with the Sichuan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism to launch a series of overseas culture and tourism promotion events for the first time.
Under the common theme of “Bashu Culture and Tourism Corridor,” the Chongqing Pavilion and the Sichuan Pavilion were opened to the public simultaneously when authorities from both parties pushed the launching button.
The Bashu Culture and Tourism Promotional Seminar, held during the peak of incoming visitors and local travel agencies seeking business cooperation, proved to be a valuable and beneficial attempt of the two authorities in the course of conducting bilateral cooperation on culture and tourism promotion.
“I’m very looking forward to taking a field trip to Chongqing and observe and study the city as soon as possible,” said Wen Qihua at the seminar, director of the Macao Government Tourism Office of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR). “Chongqing’s frequent appearance on the trending list made me aware of the city’s tourism development. The city boasts a lot of internet-famous tourist spots and its unique geographic features and tourism landscape indulge people in endless reveries.”
Also present at the seminar were Liu Yahuang, president of the Macao Travel Agency Association, Wong Yuerong, vice president of the Travel Industry Council of Macao, Wang Shuxin, president of the Macao Hotel Association, as well as many other local tourism industry leaders and KOLs.
Qin Dingbo, deputy director of the Chongqing Municipal Culture and Tourism Development Commission, and Yan Sashuang, deputy director-general of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, each gave an interesting and vivid introduction of their distinctive local culture and tourism resources during the seminar.
Chongqing’s Qianjiang District, Wulong District, Liangping District, Wushan County, and Wansheng Economic Development Zone joined the series of culture and tourism resources promotion activities with Sichuan’s Qingyang District of Chengdu and Dujiangyan City.
Other than promoting the Chongqing and Sichuan’s World Natural and Cultural Heritages, biological sightseeing areas, characteristic travel routes, and many other cultural and tourism services and products, the seminar also included Q&A quizzes, lottery draw games to give out free gift packs such as round-trip air tickets and tickets to the Yangtze River Three Gorges Cruises.
