Employees of SK Hynix Semiconductors (Chongqing) and Relevant Contacts Test Negative for Coronavirus

Chongqing- The Chongqing High Tech Zone Epidemic Prevention and Control Task Force has released a statement concerning an employee of SK Hynix Semiconductors based in the Xiyong Micro-Electronics Industrial Park of Chongqing, who has now tested negative for coronavirus in a second nucleic acid test conducted on November 30th.

 Han, a South Korean employee of SK Hynix Semiconductor (Chongqing) Company, tested positive for COVID-19 after arriving at the Incheon International Airport on November 28th and had been identified as an asymptomatic case based on preliminary diagnosis, according to a press conference of the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government Information Office on November 29th.

As of 11 p.m. on November 30th, 55 close contacts had been traced, all of whom resulted negative in nucleic acid and serum antibody tests. Moreover, 144 of their close contacts took nucleic acid tests, which were negative. A further 8,213 contacts also took nucleic acid tests, all of which came out negative.

Furthermore, a total of 674 samples taken from the premises of SK Hynix Semiconductors, Holiday Inn Chongqing University Town, and the residence and workplace of Mr. Han all resulted negative through nucleic acid tests.

Han left Holiday Inn Chongqing University Town on Thursday, November 26th, at 8 p.m. and took an arranged car of SK Hynix Semiconductor (Chongqing) Company to Chengdu City in the neighboring Sichuan Province, where he would take a direct flight to the Incheon International Airport, South Korea.

Relevant public places were immediately shut down and routinely disinfected to avoid further infection. Then, SK Hynix Semiconductor (Chongqing) Company and Holiday Inn Chongqing University Town had both temporarily ceased production and operation and were under closed-door management.

The enterprise and hotel in question have resumed normal operations following the exercise of epidemic control and prevention measures.
