Chongqing- Han, a South Korean employee of SK Hynix Semiconductor (Chongqing) Company in the Xiyong Micro-electronics Industrial Park, tested positive for COVID-19 after arriving at the Incheon International Airport on Nov. 28, and has been identified as an asymptomatic case based on preliminary diagnosis, according to a press conference of the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government Information Office on Nov. 29.

Han left Holiday Inn Chongqing University Town on Thursday, Nov. 26, at 8 p.m. and took an arranged car of SK Hynix Semiconductor (Chongqing) Company to Chengdu City in the neighboring Sichuan Province, where he would take a direct flight to the Incheon International Airport, South Korea.

Soon after he was diagnosed as an asymptomatic case for COVID-19, various departments of the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government and the Chongqing Hi-Tech Industry Development Zone Administrative Committee carried out immediate countermeasures.

Epidemiologic surveys were immediately conducted to trace all possible close contacts. As of Nov. 29, 9 a.m., 49 close contacts and another 100 close contacts of those close contacts have been traced and put under collective isolation for medical observation.

Relevant public places were immediately shut down and routinely disinfected to avoid further infection. Currently, SK Hynix Semiconductor (Chongqing) Company and Holiday Inn Chongqing University Town have both temporarily ceased production and operation, and are under closed-door management.

Widespread testing was immediately launched for all close contacts, close contacts of close contacts, staff members of SK Hynix Semiconductor (Chongqing) Company, employees and checked-in guests since Nov. 25 of Holiday Inn Chongqing University Town. As of Nov. 29, 9 a.m., a total of 3,283 people have been sampled for COVID-19 testing, 2,674 of which have seen their results negative; and a total of 493 items from possibly infected places have been sampled for COVID-19 testing, all of which have seen their results negative.
