Event: Chongqing Italy Visa Center Relocation and A Superb Photo Journey

Chongqing - On Dec. 10, the Official Presentation of Chongqing Italy Visa Application Center and Inauguration of the exhibition: Discovering Italy - a photographic journey throughout the peninsula was held in Liangjiang New Area. The visa center is officially relocated from Jiefangbei to Liangjiang. The photography is all shot by Mr. Francesco Tobia, an Italian musician who works with Guiyang Symphony Orchestra.

At the event, Davide Castellani, the Deputy Consul General of the Italian Consulate General in Chongqing, Francesco Tobia, the photographer, and other guests gather together to witness the exhibition debuted. Mr. Castellani accepted an interview to explain the current Italy visa application under COVID-19. According to Mr. Castellani, in the future, citizens who need to apply for an Italian visa will go to the Jingxin Center in Liangjiang New Area. Affected by the global pandemic, the center will not accept tourism visas. However, he added, Italy is preparing for next year's tourism recovery, "International tourism is an important way of exchanges and cooperation between countries. The opening of the new visa center is also a door to Italy for everyone", he said.

"In 2019, the Italian Consulate General in Chongqing received 65,000 visa applications. In the future, with more extensive exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, I believe that more Chinese will go to Italy," said Mr. Castellani.

Previously, the Chongqing Italian Visa Application Center was located in Yuzhong District. It moved to Liangjiang New Area on September 17, 2020. "After the opening of the new visa center, you can also make an appointment on weekends and provide on-site visa services," said Liu Xingyue, manager of the Chongqing Italian Visa Center (VFS Global).

Currently, there are 10 Italian visa centers in mainland China. "In the southwest region, only the Chongqing Visa Center can handle visa procedures. It mainly accepts study visas, works visas, and family reunion visas. Due to the impact of the pandemic, the tourist visas are temporarily closed", Liu Xingyue said.
