Two Sites in China’s Chongqing Added to National Industrial Heritage List

Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality is home to five national industrial heritage sites, according to the fourth batch of national industrial heritage list recently announced by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Among them, the original site of the Ordnance Bureau No.1 Arsenal in Jiulongpo District and the Shizitan Cascade Hydropower Station in Changshou District was newly added.

As a witness to China's national ordnance industry's formidable development, the original site of the Ordnance Bureau No.1 Arsenal comprises 51 production holes, which were built during the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (the War of Resistance).

More than half of them have been connected and built into ten theme museums, including the Chongqing Jianchuan Museum, which displays a wealth of historical relics showing the War of Resistance's spirit against Japan.

Built from 1954 to 1957, Shizitan Hydropower Station is the largest construction project among the first batch of hydropower stations built during China's First Five-year Plan. It is also the first basin-wide cascade hydropower development project designed and constructed independently by our country. The hydropower station is still in normal and safe operation currently.

In addition, the three national industrial heritage sites in Chongqing previously selected are the Section Steel Plant of Chongqing Iron and Steel (Group) in Dadukou District, the 816 Underground Nuclear Project in Fuling District, and the Chongqing Changfeng Chemical Plant in Changshou District.
