Output Value of Chongqing’s Equipment Manufacturing Enterprises Surpasses 200 Bln Yuan

In 2020, 1,094 equipment manufacturing enterprises above designated size in Chongqing achieved a combined industrial output value of 210.1 billion yuan (about 32.52 billion U.S. dollars), crossing the mark of 200 billion yuan for the first time and registering a year-on-year increase of 6%; the industrial added value rose by 2.9% year on year; and the export delivery value reached 11.1 billion yuan, up 15.8% compared with the same period last year, according to Chongqing Economic and Information Technology Commission.

"The industry chain is becoming more and more complete, especially in wind power, rail transit, and environmental protection equipment manufacturing fields. So far, these fields have built a comprehensive industrial cluster covering Complete Machine + Support Services + System Integration, becoming the biggest highlight of Chongqing's equipment manufacturing development in the past year." Meanwhile, the output value of electrical machinery, special equipment, transportation equipment, metal products, and general equipment, which are the five main fields of Chongqing's equipment manufacturing industry, all saw an increase, with the growth rates reaching 16.7%, 7.7%, 6.2%, 5.7%, and 1.7% respectively, said the head of the commission.

Take CSIC Haizhuang Windpower Co. Ltd., one of Chongqing's leading equipment manufacturing enterprises, as an example. Its 2.5MW, 3MW, and 5MW wind turbine generator units, among other products, were in great demand in the domestic wind power market, seeing a rise in production and sales. As a result, its operating revenue and newly signed contract value both surpassed 10 billion yuan in the past year. As an enterprise with a leading edge in the wind power industry chain, it enjoys more than 20 support enterprises in Chongqing and helps many of them, such as Chongqing KEKAI-QIANWEI Windpower Equipment Co., Ltd., constantly receive orders, injecting vitality into every link along the industry chain.

Besides, Chongqing's equipment manufacturing industry grew more innovative and intelligent, which has become the other two highlights of its development in the past year. In 2020, the city's equipment manufacturing enterprises above designated size invested nearly 7 billion yuan in research and development, accounting for more than 3.3% of their combined annual revenue; built a research and development talent pool of 25,000, and set up nine national enterprise technology centers and 125 municipal enterprise technology centers. Meanwhile, the industry also invested nearly 20 billion yuan in intelligent technologies, driving the output value of the city's intelligent equipment manufacturing over the mark of 30 billion yuan.
