Chongqing – Changjiahui, the riverside areas where the two rivers of Yangtze and Jialing meet and one of the city’s six new name cards in constructing the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, has been positioned as a “city reception lounge” in building the “Tow Rivers Four Banks” core urban area, according to a press conference of the Nan’an District Government on Friday.

The district government is taking the lead to release the city’s first batch of opportunity list for upgrading the “Two Rivers Four Banks” core area, which covers the six main categories of urban renewal, livelihood improvement, industry development, environmental protection, urban-rural integration, and social governance, with an estimated CNY26.1 billion investment, according to Chen Yiqing, deputy secretary of the CPC Nan’an District Committee and mayor of the Nan’an District People’s Government.

“The programs involved in the opportunity list are open to public investment. Any competent entrepreneurs or market entities are welcome to contribute their wisdom to this project,” said Lv Yi, vice mayor of Nan’an District People’s Government.

“In order to provide easier access to the project with better services for enterprises and talents, the district government established six working mechanisms for dialogue and communication, vehicle entity support, policy support, talent service, resource allocation, and opportunity update.”

Chen said that the opportunity list for building Changjiahui "City Reception Lounge" was made public to counter the issue of information asymmetry among governments, enterprises, and industries.

The Changjiahui area enjoys unique advantages for building the city reception lounge in location,  supporting facilities, and economic potential.

For one, it boasts an 8-km-long riverside bay area, with a perfect view of the multi-dimensional landscape incorporating rivers, beaches, banks, slides, and mountains; for another, it's home to four of the Twelve Scenes of Bayu, neighboring the Chongqing Planning and Exhibition Center, the Palace Cultural Relics Museum, the Danzishi Old Street, the Longmenhao Historical and Cultural Blocks, and the Chongqing International Circus City.

What's more, the Changjiahui area also rides on the preferential policies from the China (Chongqing) Pilot Free Trade Zone, the first national-level economic development zone in West China, and the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Connectivity Initiative. The cluster effect of industry behemoths such as Alibaba, ICBC, Longfor, and Chongqing Culture and Tourism Group will also help build strong momentum for financial and trade development.
