Experience the history for free – night tour launched in this museum

On May 18, the 45th World Museum Day, the Kangjiantang - Chinese Drama Golden Years Culture and Tourism Performance Release Event was held. This project is hosted by Chongqing Municipal Culture and Tourism Development Committee and organized by Chongqing Drama Arts Center. Liu Qi, Party Committee Secretary and Director of Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, and other representatives attended the event.

Kangjiantang (Chongqing the Anti-Japanese War Drama Museum) is the only professional museum in China with the theme of the anti-war drama, carrying the retrospect and memory of several generations of Chinese drama art workers of the golden years of Chinese drama development.

At the release event, Zhang Jian, president of Chongqing Drama Arts Center, said that Kangjiantang will change the traditional model and give full play to the public welfare attributes of the museum. The anti-war drama history exhibition area, the drama Wu Chongqing ("The Foggy Chongqing") stage design exhibition area, the wall of the fame exhibition area to implement free access from 4:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. every Tuesday to Saturday. At the same time, the famous drama Wu Chongqing will be re-staged every evening from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., the audience can buy tickets to watch.

As a drama-themed museum, Kangjiantang not only exhibits scripts, posters, and brochures of the drama during the war period in its exhibition hall but also restores the stage design of the drama in the showcase.

As an important part of the event, the classic drama Wu Chongqing (The Foggy Chongqing) has been premiered on April 5, the 80th anniversary of the construction of Kangjiangtang. From May 1-5, five performances have been staged, reaping the recognition and praise of the audience.

Zhang Jian said, "Wu Chongqing is only the first step in their ‘resurrection’ of anti-war drama. In the near future, Chongqing Drama Arts Center will bring more anti-war drama back to the stage.”
