Chongqing- A new contemporary art exhibition named Ying Chai Comix was officially unveiled at the YU Urbanite Art Center in Jiefangbei on June 5th, 2021, and features a solo exhibition by the Chinese artist Auyeung Yingchai that will be open to the public until July 10th, with artwork on display for the public to view and purchase.
Auyeung Yingchai has long been engaged in the field of contemporary Chinese society, lifestyle, publications, reviews, and video content related to creators from Mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
Over the past ten years, he has focused on food, culture, and tourism, and has published recipes, guides on urban food and culture, and designs for cultural institutions such as galleries, museums, and private enterprises.
This exhibition has been organized by the curator Vincent LJ Deng of Hong Kong VA Galleries and is based on the main theme of ‘I am yours, and you are mine’ expressed through the unique comic style artwork of Auyeung Yingchai, who explained his basic concepts and ideas.
‘I wanted to explore the relationship between man and woman through objects used in daily life and society as a whole. All forms of relationships have interlocking features that we encounter every day and need to consider more deeply.’
The Ying Chai Comix solo exhibition was unveiled at the YU Urbanite Art Center in Jiefangbei, Chongqing.
Curator Vincent LJ Deng of Hong Kong VA Galleries explained the unique attraction of Auyeung Yingchai and his reasons for opening the solo gallery in Jiefangbei for the next month.
‘Auyeung Yingchai is a very famous lifestyle artist in Hong Kong and Mainland China and has published over twenty books on cuisine, design, art, and fashion. Although he has been a notable figure in the art world for 35 years, this is his first-ever solo art exhibition.’
