Watch Live Ceremony Marking CPC Centenary

Chongqing-A ceremony marking the centenary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) was held at Tian'anmen Square in Beijing, China, on the morning of July 1st. Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, Chinese president, and chairman of the Central Military Commission, delivered an important speech at the ceremony.

Leaders and the working staff of the Chongqing Daily News Group watched the ceremony live together, which drew a full house. Many people working at governmental departments, enterprises, and educational institutions in Chongqing Municipality watched the ceremony before televisions, computers, and smartphones.

Military aircraft flying over Tian’anmen Square in echelons and helicopters in the formation of “100”, a 100-gun salute fired at the heart of Beijing, a flag-raising ceremony, and other ways were for celebrating the historic day.

"After seeing the ceremony marking the CPC centenary, I feel excited," said Xie Zhiqiang, a photographer of Chongqing Daily who excelled in reporting stories of the fight against COVID-19. He added, "I’ve seen many CPC members take the initiative and go to the frontline to protect people’s life and property safety."

James Alexander, a foreign employee of iChongqing, shared two examples that came to his mind--high-quality development and poverty alleviation. He said, "We have visited many high tech enterprises in the Liangjiang New Area, and we have also paid many visits to counties and districts across Chongqing, and seen how the lives of ordinary people have changed for the better."

He concluded, "I strongly believe that the next hundred years will be very spectacular and successful for China."
