The Chongqing Municipality Poverty Alleviation Exhibition was officially launched at the China Three Gorges Museum in Chongqing on July 10.
According to the Chongqing Rural Revitalization Bureau, the exhibition includes 1067 representative objects, 1320 photos, 88 videos, and 15 charts. It showed a comprehensive view of Chongqing’s arduous course of winning the fight against poverty and the great practice of the city’s spirit in fighting poverty.
Mao Xianglin, secretary of the Xiazhuang Village Party Branch at Wushan County, a role model for poverty alleviation across the country, was full of excitement when he saw the carved pictures of people in Xiazhuang building the "Precipitous Sky Road" on the wall.
He has remained steadfast in the remote village of Xiazhuang for 43 years and took the initiative with fellow villagers to painstakingly chisel out an access road on a cliff face over seven years.
"We finally won the battle against poverty alleviation, and the next task is to revitalize the village,” said Mao. “In the future, I plan to lead the villagers on the path of promoting eco-tourism development, build the village environment, and attract more tourists to Xiazhuang.” Mao insists that he will lead the people of Xiazhuang to live a better life.
The exhibition hall involves the letter of appreciation written by Jinjia Village in Wuxi County to the first secretary in the village with 91 red handprints, the application for joining the Party submitted by 21 villagers in Yanshanhong Village, Wulong District, as well as tools used by the villagers during the excavation of the "Precipitous Sky Road" in Xiazhuang, etc.
The exhibition brought the thoughts of many invited visitors back to the magnificent struggle and achievements for poverty alleviation.
The Chongqing Municipality Poverty Alleviation Exhibition will be set up in the adjacent exhibition hall A on the first floor of the China Three Gorges Museum in Chongqing. It will be open to citizens for free from 9:00 to 17:00 every Tuesday to Sunday.
Next, Chongqing will continue to launch online exhibitions, in addition to a combination of online and offline events. These will better publicize the city’s achievements in poverty alleviation, tell good stories of Chongqing’s poverty alleviation, and inspire the general public to make contributions to a new era and forge ahead towards a new journey with a more vigorous attitude.
