Chongqing Wushan County Taps into Rural Revitalization Opportunities

Chongqing- Chongqing Wushan County Consumer Support Week kicked off at the China East and West Consumer Cooperation Center in Jiangbei District on July 16. Wushan County signed a number of consumer assistance cooperation agreements with districts, counties, and units on the spot.

More than 1,800 products such as crisp plums, baked fish, oranges, and tea in Wushan have moved from field to the table, from the countryside to the city, and promoted consumer poverty development alleviation in recent years.

At the opening ceremony, Wushan County, together with Beibei District, Tongliang District, China Three Gorges Corporation, and Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, signed the 2021 consumer assistance cooperation agreement, a contract amount of 37.5 million yuan (approx. 5.79 million USD).

"The village needs to be rejuvenated, and industry will serve as the support," said Deng Changjun, Deputy Secretary of the Wushan County Party Committee. Through comprehensively pushing for rural revitalization and innovation to promote urban upgrading, Wushan is committed to building a demonstration site for the integrated development of culture, tourism, industry, and city.

Deng continued, therefore, Wushan County has continued to build an ecological barrier and a beautiful place, promoting high-quality green development.

Creating a vital supply area of ecological products in the country, Wushan aims to embark on a new development path of "green waters green mountains are gold mountains and silver mountains" for pursuing harmony between the economy and society.

“The activities of the Chongqing Wushan County Consumer Support Week will further advance the stable poverty alleviation of Wushan locals from poverty and the sustainable development of poverty-stricken areas," said Deng.

He also emphasized that Wushan will give its consumers the highest quality products, the most affordable price, and the most considerate service.
