Uzbekistan Bilateral Dialogue and Trade | SCO Countries Meet Chongqing

I. Delegation Exchanges

In 2017, Muzaffar Saliev, Minister of Housing and Communal Services of Uzbekistan, visited Jontia Group in Chongqing. The National Energy Saving Company of Uzbekistan and Jontia Group of Chongqing signed a cooperation agreement on research and development of energy-saving and environmental protection technologies. They jointly implemented the "Ohangaron Green City" project.

In February 2018, Uzbek Ambassador to China Bakhtiyor Saidov visited Chongqing as a member of the Delegation of Envoys of SCO Member States to China.

In March 2018, Uzbek Embassy to China held an Uzbekistan tourism promotion meeting in Chongqing.

In April 2018, a delegation from Tashkent City of Uzbekistan came to Chongqing to attend the United Nations Maritime and Continental Silk Road Cities Alliance activities.

Smart City & New Industry Committee (UNMCSR-SNC) signed the agreement to join the Cities Alliance.

In April 2018, the delegation of Uzbekistan was invited to visit Chongqing, and the economic, trade, and cultural cooperation agreement between the governments of Chongqing and Tashkent Province was signed.

In August 2018, a delegation led by Uzbek Ambassador to China Bakhtiyor Saidov was invited to Chongqing to attend a series of activities such as the opening ceremony of the first Smart China Expo (Chongqing).

In May 2019, a delegation of Uzbekistan came to Chongqing to attend the 2019 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Heads of Region Meeting. Mayor Tang Liangzhi met with the Governor of Samarqand Province and signed a memorandum of friendly cooperation between the two places.

II. Local Friendships 

In November 1998 and April 2018, Chongqing signed agreements on economic, trade, and cultural cooperation with Tashkent Province. Both parties agreed to actively promote the establishment of formal friendly relations between Chongqing Municipality and Tashkent Province.

In April 2018, Chongqing's Jiulongpo District signed an agreement to establish friendly and cooperative relations with Angren City, Tashkent Province.

In May 2019, Chongqing signed agreements on establishing friendly and cooperative relations with Samarqand Province, the Autonomous Republic of Karakalpakstan, and Sirdarya Province.

III. Economic and Trade Cooperation

In 2019, Chongqing and Uzbekistan's total foreign trade volume was about 226 million yuan, up 215.4% year on year.
