Tony Clemson: We Bring the UK and China Together to Tackle Global Challenges | Smart Insight

Chongqing- On August 23, as a sub-session to the Smart China Expo 2021 (SCE 2021), the Digital Transformation in Manufacturing Forum was held in Jiangbei District, Chongqing. Two hundred guests include government officials, corporate executives, experts, and scholars, gathered together to discuss the new trends, new models, new opportunities, and new challenges in the process of digital transformation in the global manufacturing industry.

This year, the UK's Department for International Trade (DIT) has assembled its largest delegation for the Expo. At the forum, iChongqing interviewed Tony Clemson, Deputy Director of Innovation & Industry. He said that DIT attaches great importance to SCE, the first SCE started in 2018, Britain has been taking part in with a national pavilion ever since, this year there are nearly fifty companies are joining the UK pavilion and UK events, the innovative, dynamic, and competitive companies from UK and China are working together to tackle the global challenges, and he believes that the collaboration between the two countries will make an enormous amount of contribution to the world.

Intelligent manufacturing is the inevitable process leading to The Made in China 2025 Mission, an important approach to manufacturing transformation and upgrading, and the main trend of industrial development in the future. In this regard, Chongqing is at the forefront of the country. In 2021, Chongqing Economic and Information Commission identified 38 Smart Factories and 215 Digital Workshops in Chongqing.

At the forum, He Xiaolong, Deputy Director of National Industrial Information Security Development Research Center, also released The Data Map of Integrated Development of Informatization and Industrialization in Chongqing.
