Sri Lankan ambassador to China: Chongqing is the leading hub of digitalization

Chongqing - Dr. Palitha Kohona, Sri Lankan ambassador to China, accepted iChongqing's exclusive interview during the China - SCO Forum on Digital Economy Industry. He was amazed by Chongqing's digitalization and economic development. "Chongqing is the leading hub of digitalization in China. There is much that we can learn from Chongqing," said Dr. Kohona.

Dr. Kohona said he could feel the enthusiasm, the encouragement that China has demonstrated. "Digitalization of these economies will contribute to bringing these countries closer to each other," he said.

His responsibility is to enhance the cultural exchanges and educational cooperation with Chongqing. He hopes more Sri Lankan students will come to Chongqing because it has advanced technology to study. Besides, he also learned Chongqing's role as a transportation hub in southwest China and indicated that it would bring opportunities for countries along with the China-Europe Express. 

When talking about the environment and sustainability, he said it is where his passion lies. He used to be the ambassador to United Nations and focused on ocean protection. "China has very encouragingly said that it would achieve carbon emissions by 2030 and become carbon neutral by 2060. China's example has now been followed by many other countries", he believes that China has played an exemplary role in environmental protection.
