Chongqing Selected as One of Top 10 Popular Destinations in Mid-Autumn Festival

The Mid-Autumn Festival is approaching. Where is your first travel destination this autumn? According to the latest data of Ctrip, interprovincial tours in China are recovering in an orderly way before the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday this year, and the number of tourists registering for tour groups has risen steadily. The interprovincial tourist orders collected on September 6 increased by 356% compared with that on August 20. Chongqing is selected as one of the top ten popular domestic destinations.

As the pandemic containment improved, many provinces and cities have announced to resume interprovincial tour groups and the "air ticket + hotel" business. According to the data, up to September 6, the top 10 tourist destinations in the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday are Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Sanya, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Zhuhai, and Wuhan.

Fang Zexi, an industry analyst at Ctrip Research Institute, said that the domestic tourism market has recovered in mid-to-late August. Through monitoring recent order data of long-distance tourism, it is found that in provinces and cities restarting interprovincial tours, the booking volume of tourism products shows a continuous and significant growth trend in the short term.

Take Chongqing as an example. Recently, the business of package tours in Chongqing has increased rapidly. Specifically, the order volume of interprovincial package tours on September 6 increased by 315% compared with the same period of last week. The top five tourist source areas of the interprovincial tour in Chongqing are Shanghai, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, and Changsha. In the past month, the top 5 destinations of interprovincial package tours favored by Chongqing tourists are Sanya, Aba, Beijing, Chengdu, and Daocheng.

Up to now, the top 10 popular scenic spots of Chongqing in the Mid-Autumn Festival holidays are Wulong Tiansheng Three Bridges, Chongqing Happy Valley, Yangtze River Cableway, Hongyadong Folk Custom Scene Area, Chongqing Sunac Land, Ciqikou Ancient Town, Chongqing Jianchuan Museum (166 ships), Dream Ordovician Theme Park, Chongqing Sunac Ocean Park, and Gongtan Ancient Town.

In addition, the searching popularity of room types like the theme room of Mid-Autumn Festival, parent-child rooms, e-sports room has increased by 82%. It can be seen from tourists' needs of hotels that demands like autumn scenery appreciation, family trips, and e-sports games may become the main consideration for users to book hotels during the festival holidays.

According to the current recovery trend of tourism, the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday is expected to cross an inflection point for the recovery of interprovincial tourism again. Interprovincial tourism is expected to grow strongly during the National Day Golden Week.
