Various Events Celebrating Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival in Chongqing

Chongqing- Four kinds of activities are being held from August to November at municipal and district levels in Chongqing and with cities along the Yangtze River and in the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle in celebration of a harvest festival, according to a press conference on September 22.

The Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival, celebrated annually on the autumnal equinox, fell on September 23 this year. 

Tang Shuangfu, deputy head of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, introduced four kinds of activities. They are four home events at the municipal level, four activities held by relevant departments involving fruit-picking, village gala, tea skills, and photo exhibition, seven special activities including harvest celebrations along the Yangtze River and in the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, as well as twelve activities in various forms such as farming culture experience and agricultural products sale online.

Specifically, the four home events at the municipal level with different themes are held in Dazu District themed with rice, Beibei District with a moderately-prosperous society, Kaizhou District with the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, and Dianjiang County with green development and rural revitalization.

It's worth mentioning that giant rice shoots growing in an about 10,000-square-meter experimental field at Changhong Village, Shiwan Town, Dazu District, Chongqing this year are cultivated successfully and expected to yield more than 800 kilograms per 667 square meters.

During the festival, farmers happily embraced a bumper harvest.
