The "future school" concept refers to the personalization of instruction, "smartization" of educational service, and sustainable educational management based on technological means like the 5G network.

As one of the following events of the Smart China Expo, the Smart Education Conference 2021 continues the theme of "smartization" that features Chonqing's next important move to upgrade the city's infrastructure, industry, and service. Educational experts from different countries and regions gather to share practical experiences from schools in respective areas and also give some suggestions for Chongqing.

Wu Fati, Professor of Beijing Normal University, said that during his visit to schools in Chongqing Liangjiang New Area, he found that Liangjiang's schools had a very good quality of infrastructures. He also said that the challenge for Chongqing was how to reduce students' workloads, meantime, gave students better class experiences boosted by smart education. "The first problem to solve is how to use data to evaluate students' performance that does not only include test grades," he said.

The idea of smart education is popular and promising yet full of challenges to implement. Wang Qiong, Professor of Peking University, said in the forum that smart education empowered by big data requires deeper understanding from both teachers and analysts and good communication between them.

"One of the urgent issues for promoting smart education is to connect data analysts and teachers. Our researchers sometimes have an excellent cognitive psychological model to analyze students' learning and emotional behaviors, but when they want to cooperate with teachers, they often fail to explain those indexes. Our teachers also need to apply big data information to their daily teaching activities," she said.
