“Magic Makeup Ballet” Staged with 4 “Pandas”

On October 31, Chongqing Ballet Theater performed a magic makeup ballet at the Caesar Palace Theatre in Chongqing. Traditional classics, new modern works, and graceful dances were on the show, creating another sleepless night in the Happy Valley.

The "Magic Makeup Ballet" is a theatrical dance performance choreographed by Chongqing Ballet Theater based on familiar music pieces such as Swan Lake, Waltz No. 2, Sleeping Beauty, Carmen, and Nutcracker, combined with classic ballet dramas and dances, as well as incorporating passionate ballroom dancing such as waltz and tango. The whole performance is intended to interpret the mood expressed by famous music pieces and music with ballet's fantasy-like dance techniques and fantastic choreography, including costumes, props, and stage curtains, focusing on the choreography and creative essence of the Chongqing Ballet Theater over the years. In addition to focusing on the dance story through ballet and ballroom dancing, this "Magic Makeup Ballet" also provides the audience with a wonderful interactive experience in the form of immersion and zero-distance viewing. Some of the highlights of the program are as follows:

1. Four Little Pandas

Under the background music of the famous Russian composer Tchaikovsky's masterpiece Swan Lake, the clumsy pandas take the place of the clever swans. The charmingly naive pandas and the graceful swans form a sharp contrast. A humorous and relaxing opening act kicks off the Magical Makeup Ballet.

2. Waltz No. 2

Under the beautiful melody of Waltz No. 2 by Russian musician Shostakovich, the beautiful and handsome young men and women of the ballet theater, wearing gorgeous clothes and exquisite masks, waltzed merrily to show the bold and unrestrained national customs of Russia.

3. Radetzky March

With the music of Johann Strauss Sr.'s classic masterpiece Radetzky March, the audience could not help but rise and applaud when the ballerinas appeared in full dress in front of them. With the brilliant lighting, the audience's moods were brought to a climax.

4. Carmen

This is the original dance of the Chongqing Ballet Theater. The dancers use unique ballet artistic language to describe the Gypsy girl Carmen's passionate character, describing her moving and beautiful love story, thus helping the audience understand the story of the French realist writer Prosper Mérimée from a different artistic perspective.

9. Feathers

The Dying Swan is sad and beautiful. It eulogizes the pursuit and desire for life and the tenacious struggle and resistance. The ballet solo Feathers expresses the dance of life of a black swan that wants to take wing and fly.
