China Joins Hands with Uruguay to Strength Cooperation | Insight

Chongqing- H.E. Fernando Lugris, Head of the Mission of Latin American and Caribbean Countries to China and Uruguay Ambassador to China, shared his in-depth views of Uruguay’s relationship with Chongqing and expressed his expectations for future cooperation during the 14th China-LAC Business Summit on Nov. 16, 2021.

He underscored Uruguay’s willingness to strengthen exchanges with more Chinese companies: “Uruguay will continue to support the promotion of cooperation in cultural and educational exchanges. We have set up an Uruguay exhibition hall during this summit. In addition to traditional agricultural products such as meat, dairy products, and alcohol, we have also introduced a new technology service company, which will continue to advance software.”

He also made remarks on Uruguay’s relationship with Chongqing. Uruguay is the first country in the Latin American region to set up a Consulate General in Chongqing. The Uruguay ministerial delegation participated in the first and second Smart China Expo held in Chongqing before. He stressed Chongqing’s important geographical location and prospects for further cooperation and development. 

In the next few months, the second consul general of Uruguay to Chongqing will come to Chongqing carrying on Uruguay’s important mission, aiming to uphold the strategic cooperative trade relationship between Uruguay and Chongqing and open up new territory in the field of economic and trade investment such as tourism, service, information and technology industry.

When discussing the friendly diplomatic ties between San Jose and Chongqing, he noted they would further deepen the cooperation between the two peoples in various fields such as arts, education, and sports, especially football, including youth training and coach training.
