Chongqing- Thirty key infrastructure construction projects for new-type consumption have been unveiled at the Chongqing Consumption Brand Ceremony 2021 held on Wednesday, along with 100 brands of the year, ten influential activities, and ten characteristic activities.

Peng Heliang, deputy director of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce, said that the event represented a summary of all consumption events in Chongqing in 2021 and also served as an exchange platform for merchants, brands, and consumers to communicate new consumption trends, share new brand fashion and explore new development opportunities.
All the 30 projects are about commercial blocks combining traditional residential elements and emerging business districts. Six projects, including Shibati (literally 18 Steps), The MixC, and Danzishi Old Street, were promoted on site.
Shibati was once a vital thoroughfare leading up and down the southern half of the Yuzhong Peninsula. The area is steeped in centuries of Baya history and culture and holds profound nostalgia for the people of Chongqing.

"We have selected 30 typical, leading, and integrated projects in the whole city for promotion," said Yu Xiaolin, head of the Consumption Promotion Department of Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce, during an interview. She added, " These projects offer enterprises with development opportunities of Chongqing and its consumer market as well as new space and options. It will also promote Chongqing to accelerate the gathering of high-quality consumer brands and market entities, and rev up to build an international consumption center city."
From January to November this year, the city's total retail sales of consumer goods increased by 20.3% year on year, 6.6 percentage points higher than the national level.
Five Chinese cities, including Chongqing, were announced on July 19 to take the lead in developing international consumption center cities by the Ministry of Commerce, with the approval of the State Council, China's cabinet.
In addition, a hundred brands of the year, including Chen Changyin dough twists, Cartier, and IKEA, were selected based on brand fundamentals, brand communication index, brand reputation index, social influence, and development potential.

Ten influential activities such as the nightlife festival and hot pot festival involved city landscapes, night scenery, fashion brands, and international consumption, covering the areas of food, clothing, housing, shopping, and travel. For example, more than 190,000 merchants participated in nighttime-themed online and offline events.
Ten characteristic activities such as Chongqing China-Chic coffee culture festival and Chongqing Noodle (Xiaomian) culture festival fully integrate regional and industry features and demonstrate the unique Bayu culture and trendy style.
