Street Dance Meets Chinese Culture

Chongqing-As one of the trendy cultures, street dance, has been increasingly discussed among young people in recent years. Since 18 December, a series of street dance events such as "Dancing in the Mountain City" International Street Dance Competition, the first China Street Dance Industry Development Summit Forum, and the China Street Dance Festival has been held in Chongqing. During the event, street dance industry practitioners from all over the country focused on the new pattern of the street dance industry and jointly explored the creative transformation and innovative development of China's street dance.

"The development of China's street dance industry and cultural industry share the same fate. " Bu Xiting, vice president of the School of Cultural Development of the  Communication University of China, said that from the street dance in the past to the establishment of CHUC National Street Dance Union, the street dance industry has developed rapidly in China in the past ten years. Especially after the integration of Chinese dance factors, the development has become more systematic and standardized.

Street dance meets Chinese culture

Chinese street dance is no longer an imported product "learned and imitated" from abroad. More and more street dance works are "colliding" with Chinese culture in artistic choreography, resulting in several works that are both ornamental and artistic. Chinese street dance practitioners need to use the new era of methods to tell the Chinese story, build a bridge between Chinese young people and the world.

"We are not happy if mountain songs are not sung, yo ......" in this year's "Dance Mountain City" international street dance competition, the participating dance group "Pengshui Miao street dance group" combined Miao folk song Jiao Ayi and street dance. The delicate dance shows the audience the youthful vitality of street dance and the Miao migration history. Su Hui, the deputy director of the Street Dance Committee of the Chinese Dancers Association, believes that street dance works with regional characteristics can more widely resonate with the public.

"As a world pop culture, street dance can break the language barrier and help promote the worldwide spread of Chinese culture." the reality competition show "Street Dance of China" chief director, Lu Wei said that in Street Dance of China season 4, there are many dancers combined ink, Tai Chi, drunken fist and other Chinese cultural elements with the street dance works.

Street dance feast "ignites" the mountain city

The "Dance Mountain City" International Street Dance Competition, China Street Dance Festival, and other activities have been held in Chongqing for two consecutive years. More and more street dance practitioners have noticed the vibrant city. In this year's "Dance Mountain City" International Street Dance Competition, nearly 1,000 street dancers from across the country were attracted to register for the competition. The organizers also invited the famous French street dancer Kaka, Street Dance of China season 3 champion Yang Kai and other well-known dancers at home and abroad as judges. The webcast was watched online by over 8 million people.

Lu Wei believes that Chongqing is a cyberpunk "8D magic city" in the minds of most teenagers, which "coincides" with the youthful and powerful art of street dance. "Dancing in the City of Mountains' International Street Dance Competition and other international events held in Chongqing, can gather more trendy people, to create more 'Chongqing flavor' of street dance works." Lu Wei said.
