The China-Laos railway is an important infrastructure incorporated to support the Belt and Road Initiative and promote higher domestic and international connectivity between China and its neighboring countries.

In December 2021, after the opening of the China-Laos Railway, Chongqing effectively connected the market and started the China-Laos Railway (Chongqing-Vientiane) of the ILSTC. Nowadays, the train has achieved regular operation weekly in two-way directions.

Solving the problem of port congestion

"This route has solved the problem of port congestion," said the person in charge of a limited motorcycle company in Laos.

He noted that the company could further reduce the total cost and expand the scope of its global layout through the ILSTC, increasing its cooperation with the ILSTC in the future.

Wang Yupei, chairman of the New Land-Sea Corridor Operation Co., Ltd, introduced that through the China-Laos Railway of the ILSTC, all-weather, low-cost, no change, fast access can be achieved in cross-border transportation, which is better than the previous cross-border road transportation mode regarding both safety and transport costs.

Facilitating trade financing for enterprises

In addition, the ILSTC also actively promotes innovative services such as digital bills of lading and cross-border trade financing, which further improves the efficiency of logistics and enhances the facilitation of trade financing for enterprises.

In particular, trade financing has been a good facilitator for import and export and international trade transactions.

Liu Wei, head of ILSTC operation organization center, said that the ILSTC is an international corridor operated under the "13+1" (including all western provinces, autonomous regions and cities, Hainan Province and Zhanjiang City in Guangdong Province) joint construction mechanism, which has promoted further opening-up of the regions along the corridor and helped the regions to optimize their business environment further.

The export train for China's motorcycle to Laos on the China-Laos Railway of the ILSTC aims to take advantage of the corridor to further reduce the logistics costs of enterprises, stabilize the industry's supply chain, and promote the development of the motorcycle industry.
