Dzmitry Yemelyanau: Seeking Trade Cooperation along China-Europe Freight Train Route

Chongqing - On Jan. 16 -17, the Chongqing Foreign Affairs Office (FAO) invited consuls (general), consulate staff members, other diplomats to watch the live broadcast of Chongqing Two Sessions opening. Following the government work report made by acting mayor Hu Henghua, iChongqing interviewed Mr. Dzmitry Yemelyanau, Consul-General of the Republic of Belarus in Chongqing, to share his insights on attending the 2022 Chongqing Two Sessions.

"It's my pleasure to learn about the policies, statistics, achievements, and plans regarding Chongqing's development -- a well-rounded summary in today's government work report," said Mr. Yemelyanau, who also attended last year's Two Sessions.

According to the 2022 Chongqing Government Work Report, China-Europe Freight Train from Chengdu and Chongqing reached over 4800 trips last year, ranking top nationwide in freight volume and value. Mr. Yemelyanau said, "Belarus is an important stop along the route, and we hope to get more help from Russia and China to facilitate our trade cooperation."

Mr. Yemelyanau said that many of his diplomatic colleagues didn't know much about Chongqing, but he's willing to promote the city to more people. "Chongqing is a futuristic city with complex transit systems and booming digital economy," said Yemelyanau. "We seek to invite more Belarusian businesses to this rising cosmopolis."

"This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Belarus, as well as the Year of the Regions of China and Belarus," said Mr. Yemelyanau. "We look forward to more cooperation in the areas of economic and cultural exchanges."

The Consulate General of the Republic of Belarus in Chongqing will host a series of events to celebrate the anniversary, including a photo exhibition and other events in areas of education and culture, according to Mr. Yemelyanau.
