Netherlands Flower Installation Unveiled to Celebrate Relationship with China

Chongqing - Netherlands Flower Installation was unveiled on March 4th in Chongqing Guotai Square to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations at the ambassadorial level between China and the Netherlands.

Under the support of the Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People's Government, the exhibition is co-hosted by Netherlands Consulate-General in Chongqing and Yuzhong District People's Government.

The installation comprises more than 50,000 flowers, including the national flower of the Netherlands, tulips, rainbow-colored sea of fragrant hyacinths, and roses. Visitors will walk through a flower world in the giant shape of the logo designed for the 50th anniversary. At the exhibition, elements presenting long-term and profound exchanges and communication in culture and art between China and Netherlands have been displayed. For example, Delft's blue porcelain elements that take in the feature of Chinese blue and white porcelain are used on the installation. Moreover, the theme of water plays a symbolic role in the logo of the 50th anniversary because water is a recurring essence that flows through the Netherlands and China's history.

According to the introduction of the Netherlands Consul-General in Chongqing in 1972, both countries established full diplomatic relations. Since that moment, a tremendous strengthening of ties has been seen in all possible fields like trade and investments, cultural cooperation, frequent visits of high-level delegations, cooperation in science and technology, and a substantial exchange of students. He said that the Netherlands opened a Consulate-General in Chongqing in 2013 to facilitate trade and investments. Chongqing plays an important role in the connectivity between China and Europe.

In 2021, the total volume of trade between China and the Netherlands reached $ 116.45 billion, up 26.9% year-on-year. Meanwhile, the total volume of trade between Chongqing and the Netherlands reached 14.21 billion yuan. For the past years, Chongqing and the Netherlands have established cooperation in multiple fields like logistics industry, agriculture, economy, smart technology, culture & art. In the future, the Netherlands Consulate-General in Chongqing will seek more cooperation with Chongqing in fields like logistics, including cold food chain, pharmaceutical cold chain and flower cold chain, high tech, sports, medical treatment, and elderly care.
