Shopping Festival for Intangible Cultural Heritage Kicked off in Chongqing

Chongqing- From June 11 to 12, the Shopping Festival for Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Cultural and Natural Heritage Day Chongqing Venue · Chongqing Intangible Cultural Heritage and Time-honored Brand Expo kicked off in Tongnan District, Chongqing.

At the event, intangible cultural heritage (ICH) products were made on-site, and a wide variety of products were displayed. Visitors were able to experience all this interactively.

The event focused on Connecting Modern Life with Blooming Charms and displayed Chongqing's characteristic culture and rural revitalization supports. With respect to pandemic prevention policy and control, more than 170 ICH projects and time-honored enterprises were involved in the event. More than 2,000 kinds of ICH and time-honored brand products were exhibited and sold, comprehensively displaying the achievements of Chongqing's ICH protection and development and showing the vitality of Chongqing's time-honored brands.

Based on categories of ICH, six exhibition areas were divided. The exhibition areas used Chinese classical elements of pailou (also known as paifang, a traditional style of Chinese architectural arch or gateway structure) and combined with the modern fashionable Chinese style with the representative patterns of Chongqing's ICH. The event created a large cultural feast for visitors.

Chongqing was selected among the fifth batch of China's ICH representative project awards at the opening ceremony. The certificates of the sixth batch of the city's ICH representative inheritors were issued. The award certificates of outstanding cases were handed - schools and campuses held meaningful ICH activities and places that integrated ICH development and tourism in Chongqing. At the same time, the Chongqing Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Achievement Exhibition was held to publicize and display the important achievements, protection experience, and excellent cases of the Chongqing's ICH protection in recent years.

In addition, the event was launched both online and offline and invited online anchors to do live broadcasts, further promoting ICH products and stimulating consumption. At the same time, there were interactive robots on-site to display the profound culture of ICH and the combination of technology and culture.

The event was organized by the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce, and Tongnan District Government.
