Photographers and Video Creators are Invited to Spotlight on Chongqing

Chongqing- The launch ceremony for 'Spotlight on Chongqing 2022' was held at the foot of the 458-meter-high Chongqing Luhai International Centre by the Jialing riverbank, and citizens are now invited to submit photographs and short videos based on four specific themes before the event is due to close on August 31st.

During an opening address, Executive Deputy Director-General of the Publicity Department of CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee Cao Qingyao described the Spotlight on Chongqing 2022 as a method to strengthen international communication and urban feel-good factors while also promoting the city's image through full use of its unique aesthetic value.

'The aim is for everyone to participate through sharing their photo and video graphics creations as they discover the beauty, changes, and vibrancy to promote the city's image. This way, more people can come to know and love Chongqing better.' Cao said.

Following a live solo performance by the erhu virtuoso Liu Guangyu, a ceremony was held where nine individuals were conferred the 'City Photographer/Videographer of Chongqing' award, including vice chairman of the Chongqing Photographers Association Wang Zhengkun, the poet Li Yuansheng, freelance photographer Zhang Kunkun of National Geographic China, and iChongqing reporter Alex Whitehead.

The Spotlight on Chongqing event has adopted the four specific themes of 'skylines' to present the city's strong dynamism and distinctive spirit, 'bridges' to depict the unique landscape, three-dimensional terrain, and aesthetic beauty, and 'people' to display connectivity between the inclusive city and its warm inhabitants, and 'youth' to manifest cool, trendy, outgoing and diverse lifestyles.
