Chongqing- With efforts of rescue personnel and volunteers, the mountain fires in Chongqing's Beibei and Bishan districts juncture were finally extinguished on August 26. During the rescue, people came from all sides to do their best to help Chongqing through difficult times. On August 27, iChongqing reporters went to the post-fire spot to report on the ongoing clean-up process.
The motorcyclists are being hailed as heroes for volunteering to transport supplies to the mountain.
Wang Wenchao is a volunteer from Sichuan Province with a 10-people team. "I worked from 5:00 p.m. the day before yesterday until 1:40 a.m. this morning," he said. "We kept delivering the stuff like fire extinguishers and water."
"Off-roading motorcycles are the only ones capable of running to sentinel locations," he added. "These other motorcycles cannot normally run there, so only we can."

Wang continued that two of the ten bikes have been scrapped due to the challenging circumstances. "The mountain is almost 50 to 60 degrees of slope, coupled with the ash at night; it was difficult to see clearly from one or two meters," he said.
Everyone cared for the volunteers by delivering food, drinks, and necessary goods and materials, which made wang feel warm, and a sense of home feeling.

After the fire was extinguished, the temperature was still high and dry, with risks of fire resurgence across the mountains.
Deng Hua, who is responsible for the Beibei branch of the Agriculture Bank of China, led his team to the original site of the fire to clean up the garbage.
"Our work is mainly to clean up some bamboo, branches, and the dead branches in the area where the fire started at the beginning of the Hutou Mountain," Deng said. "We cleaned and collected those things at these places and then carried out centralized processing."
Deng said there were two fires during the operation on Saturday morning and noon, and they put out the fire in time with firefighting actions such as sprinkling water and pouring soil.
In times of trouble, help comes from all sides, and in this battle against Chongqing's forest fires, many volunteers participated in the rescue and worked day and night, which moved people both home and abroad.
