Chongqing Fengdu Celebrates Harvest Festival with a Variety of Activities

Chongqing - On September 23, the 2022 Chinese Farmer's Harvest Festival (Fengdu) was held in Baoluan Town, Fengdu County. The festival, with 54 booths, exhibited Lizi rice, spicy chicken, beef, longan, and other local products of Fengdu County and Zaozhuang City. It also invited live streamers to promote distinctively local agricultural products at Douyin Livestream.

The characters of  "The City of Harvest," made up of colored rice, are particularly eye-catching.

In addition, Fengdu County is also scheduled to hold the agricultural product trade from September 22 to 28. The fair, focusing on leading industries, featured products, and Fengxian County-based exhibition and sales, will boost sales and promotion of products through online advertising, offline exhibition, and purchase and sales cooperation.

Fengdu County, as a "Major Agricultural Production Area of China, Characteristic Agricultural and Animal Husbandry Base of Chongqing," has been developing modern and efficient mountain agriculture prioritizing livestock and poultry breeding. Recently, it has accelerated the construction of a national agricultural modernization demonstration zone, effectively improving agrarian efficiency, farmers' income, and rural development.

To date, the numbers of beef cattle in stock and slaughtered register at 160,000 and 90,000, respectively; the numbers of poultry in stock and slaughtered stand at 6.76 million and 10.54 million, respectively; the numbers of live pigs in stock and slaughtered remain at 350,000 and 530,000 respectively. The county now has 16,000 hectares, 5,000 hectares, and 5,333.3 hectares of pickled mustard tubers, red pomelos, and peppercorns.

In the Intangible Cultural Heritage Project Exhibition Area, 13 intangible cultural heritage projects were displayed, including the Fengdu Spicy Chicken Nuggets, Xianjia Fermented Bean Curd, Qinglong Tea, and others. Five intangible cultural heritage projects, such as Puppet Show, Qin's Gong, and Drum, were performed on the site, appealing to visitors to enjoy and participate in these performances.

Afterward, a trip to the viewing platform of the main venue of Huadibao Village in Baoluan Town was conducted to admire the colorful rice field and the dragon and lion dance performance in the field. From a distance, an idyllic landscape comes into view. The pattern of "Birds Worshiping the Phoenix" and the characters of "The City of Harvest" made up of colored rice are particularly eye-catching.
