The system has been installed on the third floor of the library's Chinese book lending area. To use the "contactless borrowing" service, readers must first complete a facial recognition registration and link their library card. Afterward, readers can choose the books they want to borrow and leave the library.

There is no need to scan or register the books or to use any special gate or machine. The entire borrowing process takes less than two minutes.

"By introducing information technology, we are making it easier for readers to borrow books," said Yan Xuan, Chongqing Library's network technology center director. The library has been constantly exploring various services, such as card catalog borrowing, manual scanning borrowing, RFID self-service borrowing, mobile phone scanning borrowing, and home delivery service. However, the "contactless borrowing" service takes the library's services to the next level.

The new "contactless intelligent borrowing system" will be gradually implemented throughout the Chongqing Library. With the introduction of this innovative system, the library hopes to enhance the borrowing experience of its readers and promote the use of new technology in the library sector.
