Chongqing Cultural Expo Concludes, Highlighting Cultural Exchange and Trade丨CQCIE

Chongqing - The 11th Chongqing International Cultural Industry Expo (CQCIE) concluded at Chongqing International Convention & Exhibition Center (Nanping) on April 9, which featured exquisite displays from various districts and counties, highlighting the splendid culture and beauty of Chongqing. 

This expo also served as a platform for cultural exchange, with countries such as Belarus, the Philippines, Uruguay, Tanzania, Pakistan, and more than 20 provinces and cities across China gathering in the form of "culture +" to promote emotional, value, and market recognition through interaction and mutual learning. 

The expo also acted as an industry exhibition, with transactions and cooperative intentions amounting to over 50 million yuan ($7.275 million) during the three-day event, attracting nearly 100,000 visitors and satisfying the public's desire for a better life.

Promoting recognition of Bayu culture

"On my first visit to Chongqing, I visited the exhibition and found that not only was it beautiful with its mountains and waters, but it was also full of cultural treasures that were dazzling and diverse, making it impossible to take it all in." On the afternoon of April 9, exhibitor Qu Xiaoxin from Shanghai, who had her hands complete with cultural and creative products she purchased from various exhibitors, spoke of her admiration for the city.

Qu Xiaoxin was not the only one who was impressed with the exhibition. "Through this exhibition, I have further strengthened my confidence in developing the Chongqing market," said Le Zhengping, an inheritor of the Guangxin wood carving technique from Jiangxi Province.

The expo covered nine major exhibition areas, including the "Bayu Culture" exhibition area, the intangible cultural heritage and craft art exhibition area, and the contemporary art exhibition area. Among them, the "Bayu Culture" exhibition area showcased the latest cultural achievements, business models, and new scenarios from various districts and counties in Chongqing.

For example, Rongchang Pavilion brought more than 300 exquisite  intangible heritage products, such as Rongchang Ceramics, Rongchang Ramie, and Rongchang Folding Fans, attracting a continuous flow of visitors to the exhibition and "online shopping."

In addition, many districts and counties, such as Yuzhong, Nan'an, Dadukou, Yubei, and Jiangbei, have all showcased their unique cultural achievements at this year's expo, which has jointly created the image of "sharing the beauty of Chongqing" and further enhanced the reputation and recognition of Bayu culture among domestic and foreign exhibitors and visitors.

Demonstrating the power of culture

This year's Chongqing Cultural Industry Expo also exhibited new cultural achievements from more than 20 provinces and cities, including Jiangsu, Guangdong, Zhejiang, and Sichuan, as well as countries such as Belarus, the Philippines, Uruguay, Tanzania, and Pakistan, in the cultural exhibition area and urban integration exhibition area

For example, the Philippines showcased hand-woven products, Capiz shell crafts, brass crafts, and woodcrafts, which attracted many visitors who marveled at their exquisite handicraft artistry.

The Uruguay pavilion displayed natural amethysts that were translucent and sparkling, especially the heart-shaped crystals and bracelets, which left visitors amazed at their superb craftsmanship. The booth's representative mentioned that many people only knew Uruguay because of football, but they learned about the country's rich culture and handicrafts through the expo.

The responsible person in charge of the Tanzania exhibition stand expressed their hope that through this exhibition, more Chongqing citizens can better understand Africa and Tanzania, more Chongqing enterprises can enter Africa, and some outstanding cultural products of Africa can be brought to Chongqing for cultural exchange. Their exhibited coffee beans, white wine, sparkling wine, and other products have also become this exhibition's "star" products.

As for the domestic exhibition organizations, the Hangzhou Pavilion showcased the new vitality given to traditional cultural and creative industries through new designs from two perspectives: "traditional cultural creativity" and "new cultural creativity."

The Chengdu Pavilion showcased food products such as Kuanzhai delicacies, cold beef, and hot pot base materials, and the Chengdu Museum exhibited cultural and creative products such as porcelain cups and covered bowl teacups made according to the stone rhinoceros and pottery figurines, as well as panda-themed items. 

Exhibition halls from provinces and cities such as Guangdong, Guizhou, and Shanxi attracted many visitors with wonderful exhibitions, rich activities, and unique performances, vividly demonstrating the power of cultural exchange and mutual learning.

Cultural innovation empowers industry

The main forum of this year's cultural expo was held under the theme of "Cultural Empowerment for Rural Revitalization." Six authoritative scholars, outstanding enterprise representatives, and senior practitioners were invited to share their theoretical achievements and practical experiences from multiple dimensions, such as "Art in the Countryside," "Digital Rural Construction," "Design Empowerment," and "Ecological Civilization."

The insights gained from their presentations have valuable references and inspiration for the rural construction of our city and even the entire country.

The "First Camellia Cup Wuling Creative Star Youth Designer Competition" unveiled at this expo has effectively boosted the Wuling Mountain area's cultural industry and tourism development by providing creative designs for the region.

The "Nan'an Qifengjing" Nanbin Road Consumption Sub-venue series of activities brought together numerous merchants to promote cultural and tourism products, catering, and hotel services. The promotion in the form of discounts has stimulated consumption and boosted the market, producing significant results.

According to data released by the organizing committee of this expo, the cultural industry injected vitality into high-quality economic development. The expo achieved on-site transactions and cooperation intentions worth over 50 million yuan, driving consumption in the cultural industry and tourism sectors.

In addition, the expo attracted nearly 100,000 on-site visitors, and the keyword "Chongqing Cultural and Creative Industries Expo" has reached a new browsing volume of 250 million.

This year's CQCIE once again demonstrated the "power of culture," embraced "fantastic creativity," and presented a "larger world."
