Chongqing’s Myanmar Promotion Center Promises New Heights for Trade and Exchange | Video

Chongqing- The Myanmar Promotion Center set up alongside Xiu Lake in Bishan District, Chongqing, aims to promote exchange and cooperation between  China and Myanmar in diverse fields such as culture, trade, investment, tourism, services, and logistics. Inside, a wide variety of displays and exhibits vividly illustrate the traditions, scenery, products, food, and lifestyles of people in Myanmar.

This is the only promotion and service organization nationwide officially authorized by the Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in China, with investment, construction and operations undertaken by the China-Myanmar Economic Cooperation and Development Promotion Association. Moreover, a new trade route between Chongqing and Myanmar on the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC) saw its first departure as the Myanmar Promotion Center prepares to open its doors to the public.

Recently, the first direct multimodal freight route combining railways and public roads between Chongqing, Ruili, and Myanmar was officially launched on April 3rd with a train departure from Luohuang in Jiangjjn District. The cargo was later transferred onto public roads in Baoshan, Yunnan Province, then driven across the Wanding border crossing into Myanmar.

This new route on the ILSTC marks the opening of Myanmar and beyond for Chongqing, which will further promote trade cooperation with South and Southeast Asian countries, as the time needed to transport cargo has been reduced to around ten days, which saves twenty days in comparison to traditional shipments by river and sea. This will bring significant economic advantages to the Chengdu-Chongqing region through a more competitive logistical chain.

In the context of this latest trade route further connecting Mountain City with the world, iChongqing reporter James visits the Myanmar Promotion Center in person to learn more about the history, culture, tourism and products of this exotic Southeast Asian country and captures the highlights of the video.
