To increase agricultural cooperation between Peru and Chongqing | Interview

Chongqing - The 5th Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade (WCIFIT) was held in Chongqing from May 18-21. Marco V. Balarezo Lizarzaburu, Ambassador of Peru to China, accepted iChongqing's interview on May 19 and expressed his wish to diversify trade between Peru and China, including Chongqing city in the southwest region.

According to Marco V. Balarezo, China and Peru signed a free trade agreement years ago, and the agreement needs to be further improved. "We have to take advantage of many other things that came out, like e-commerce, artificial intelligence, and digital economy."

During this year's WCIFIT, he attended China (Chongqing) Cross Border E-commerce Development Summit Forum. Speaking of e-commerce, he thought it was a strong force to increase investment in goods and services.

"The Peruvian government has taken active measures to create a favorable environment for e-commerce development, including implementing supportive policies, developing infrastructure, and fostering digital finance. We look forward to working with Chinese companies to bring Peruvian products into more Chinese households through e-commerce," he said.

"The economy of Peru and China are complementary," he added. "Chongqing is a sublease of great technology and a strong manufacturing base. While Peru is basically an exporter of commodities. We can cooperate with Chongqing in the agriculture industries and offer commodities, such as different goods from fishing and clothes. We must find different ways to diversify trade from our side."
