Bask in Over 200 Cultural and Tourism Activities This Summer in Chongqing

Chongqing - Southwest China's Chongqing, famous for its hot and spicy cuisine, is poised to turn up the heat this summer with an exhilarating array of over 200 cultural and tourism activities. With 70 exciting tour routes and 80 initiatives designed for public benefit, gear up to immerse yourself in the joys of the summer season!

Dive into the Water Carnival

This summer, districts and counties in Chongqing have embraced the "water" theme, introducing invigorating activities like water fights, river rafting, and water carnivals, all geared to create a spectacular atmosphere.

From June through September, Changshou District in Chongqing has arranged a water carnival for its visitors. Tourists can test their mettle with water obstacle challenges, engage in water fights, and try over 20 thrilling water-based activities like powerboats, jet skis, motorboats, water skis, and water sofas. Various spots, including Nanchuan Shenglong Gorge, Jinshan Lake, Ba'nan Foyin Gorge, and Qijiang Ganshui Town's Xiangma River, offer adventurous summer canyon rafting experiences, allowing you to unleash your energy.

Furthermore, dragon boat races are scheduled in Changshou, Nanchuan, Tongnan, Rongchang, Jiangjin, and Zhongxian around the time of the Dragon Boat Festival. Simultaneously, other engaging activities like the "Water Splashing Festival" will be held in Yubei and Tongnan.

Passionate "Summer Symphony"

In addition to water activities, Chongqing will host various experiential cultural and tourism events, including camping, music, and beer festivals, all designed to welcome and excite travel enthusiasts.

In June, visitors to Nanchuan's178km drive route around the greater Jinfo Mountain Area  can enjoy rock music nights and camping experiences. In July, at Fuling's Wuling Mountain Grand Rift, anticipate an unforgettable Aurora Music Festival featuring celebrities, internet sensations, and acclaimed bands, promising a sensational summer concert. In August, participate in the camping carnival in Shizhu, savor a summer getaway, and engage in a variety of folk cultural activities during the Tujia Cultural Tourism Season.

Additionally, before August ends, you can visit Rongchang for the 2023 Chongqing International Fashion Week and the Night of Rongchang Intangible Cultural Heritage for a dazzling display. Swing by Hechuan for the 2023 Chongqing Hot Pot Ingredients Expo and Huatan Music and Beer Festival to soak in the vibrant ambiance. Take part in the 16th Beer Festival at Bailing Zhuhai Tourism Resort in Liangping and the inaugural "Table Mountain" Cultural Tourism Festival in Xiushan for an unforgettable experience.

Colorful Countryside Harvest Tours

Purple grapes, red dragon fruits, green plums, blueberries - a rainbow of "summer fruits" are ripe for picking, beckoning visitors on countryside harvest tours.

This summer, Chongqing's Zhongxian, Qijiang, Tongnan, Bishan, and Chengkou districts have rolled out various fruit-picking festivals featuring over ten types of fruits, such as watermelons, waxberries, blueberries, peaches, grapes, plums, and dragon fruits.

Several districts have also organized countryside tourism festivals and food festivals to enrich the rural tourism experience. These include the 27th Chongqing Huayan Lotus Festival in Jiulongpo and the Three Gorges Orange Village Lotus Cultural Tourism Festival in Zhongxian.

Exciting Routes and Discounts 

To stoke the excitement, the districts and counties have unveiled over 80 discount measures, including the distribution of consumption vouchers, free admission, and discounted tickets.

For instance, the Chongqing Cultural Tourism Information Center has initiated the "Million Employees Tour Bashu" program. It facilitates links between scenic spots and cultural troupes in Sichuan and Chongqing, encourages sharing of tourism resources, and promotes mutual visits between the two regions' tourists. This initiative aims to draw more visitors, fuel consumption, and catalyze the growth of the tourism sector.

Until August 31, recent high school and middle school graduates can enjoy free visits to several scenic spots in Wansheng, Qianjiang, and Wulong. Chongqing residents can avail a 20% discount on activities like motorboat rides and water sports in Changshou Lake Scenic Area, while entry to Banan scenic spots are priced as low as 19.9 yuan per person.
