‘World is a Textbook’ Theme Study Tour for SCO Children Launched in Chongqing

On June 26, the "SCO Children Walk Together to Future" —  "World is a Textbook" Theme Study Tour for SCO Children was launched in Yuzhong District, Chongqing.

The tour is scheduled to start in July. Children aged 10-14 from nine Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states, some observer states and dialogue partners will visit the Three Gorges on the Yangtze River, Baidi City, Qu Yuan Temple, and Three Gorges Dam by a cruise of Victoria Cruise Lines. The itinerary includes exploring rare plants, participating in dragon boat races, and discovering the secrets of hydropower. 

SCO children will take this chance to admire the magnificent rivers and mountains in China, understand traditional Chinese culture, and learn about the outstanding achievements obtained by the country in the new era.

Hu Kaiqiang, Deputy Director of the Committee on Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and Overseas Chinese of the CPPCC Chongqing Municipal Committee, Director-General of SCO TEMP, and Head of the SCO TEMP and Chongqing Education Commission Cooperation Working Group, said in his speech that through the study tour series, young people in SCO countries could develop a deeper understanding of the excellent cultures, history, and traditions of SCO countries, strengthen cultural confidence and cultural identity, and foster the lofty ideal of "jointly building our region into a beautiful home." 

In addition, the event is also designed to cultivate teenagers' international vision and global awareness, help them establish correct perceptions and values of today's world landscape and international relations, and encourage them to develop innovation awareness and the abilities for innovation and cross-cultural communication. As a result, the next generation will establish good relations, inherit and carry forward the Shanghai spirit and contribute to building a community with a shared future for humanity.

Deng Rui, First-level Inspector of the Chongqing Education Commission, Deputy Head of the SCO TEMP and Chongqing Education Commission Cooperation Working Group, and Chairman of the Educational Services Working Committee of SCO TEMP, said that Chongqing maintains close cooperation and exchanges with SCO countries in education. 

The Theme Study Tour for SCO Children aims to cover younger teenagers in cooperation. As an essential part of the study tour series, it will inspire and provide models for international educational exchanges, cooperation between China and the rest of SCO countries, and innovation in youth education while opening up a new channel for cultural inheritance, mutual learning among civilizations, and people-to-people exchanges.

At the launch ceremony, SCO TEMP announced the appointment of Dou Xin, pioneer of the General Chinese System and visiting professor at the Communication University of China, as the world's first Ambassador for the Cultural Exchange of Trade and Economic Multifunctional Platform for SCO Countries.

The SCO Children's "World is a Textbook" Theme Dialogue was held during the ceremony. The guests had in-depth discussions on topics such as "Shanghai Spirit," "River Valley Civilization," "Exploration of the Origin of SCO Children's Culture," "World is a Textbook," and "Sharing the Same River." They interpreted the study tours' far-reaching significance and important values for SCO children.
