Chongqing - The opening ceremony of the Chongqing University branch of the 2023 Youth Science Camp was held in Chongqing Monday. A total of 132 teachers and high school students from various districts and counties in Chongqing City and Henan Province embark on a one-week science and technology exploration journey at Chongqing University from July 16th to 22nd.

With the theme of "Dreams of Science, Dreams of Youth, Dreams of China," the science camp combines the superior discipline resources of Chongqing University. It will include activities such as the "Jinyun Forum" featuring renowned experts' lectures, career education sessions, and documentary screenings of scientific giants' stories, allowing students to experience the charm of distinguished teachers and explore the forefront of science and technology.
Through hands-on scientific inquiry activities like "Intelligent Car Robots," students will explore scientific mysteries and cultivate scientists' spirit and practical abilities. They will also engage in fun cultural and interactive activities, experiencing campus culture and fostering peer-to-peer exchanges.
Additionally, the offline activities of the Chongqing University branch will be synchronized with the official website of the science camp, allowing secondary school students from across the country to participate online.
Tang Mingxing, a member of the Party Group of the Chongqing Association for Science and Technology and Vice Chairman, pointed out that the Youth Science Camp is an important platform for inspiring the scientific interest of young people, guiding them to pursue science, and engaging in scientific research.
Since its inception in 2012, Chongqing has selected and accepted 3,712 campers and accompanying teachers, organizing more than 200 science and technology activities. It has gradually formed a brand activity characterized by "technology as the core, culture as the wing, and cooperation for nurturing talents," providing a broad platform for the growth and development of young people.
Tang expressed hope that the participating young people would cherish this opportunity for learning and exchange. He encouraged them to take this event as an opportunity to cultivate their innovative spirit and practical abilities, experience the brilliance of intellectual achievements through practice, and set their sights on the world, establishing ambitious aspirations to scale new heights in science and technology.
Zhu Caizhao, Assistant to the President of Chongqing University, delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the university. He expressed the hope that the campers would experience the profound cultural heritage of Chongqing University and immerse themselves in the vibrant campus life, listen to lectures by distinguished experts, explore the path of scientific research, and delve into key laboratories to experience the joy of technological innovation.
Following the opening ceremony, Wang Shuxin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, President of Chongqing University, and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, delivered an exciting popular science lecture titled "The Current Situation and Future of Surgical Robots" to the campers. He encouraged all the campers to cherish their time, study hard, find their interests among a wide range of books, pursue further education in the future, master scientific methods, and better solve problems, thereby contributing to scientific development and social progress as a generation.
