"Hello, my name is Fang Yishun," begins each introduction, the standard greeting Fang extends to every new acquaintance.

His name, chosen with care, signifies not just his family's hopes for his future but also a deep cultural connection. Despite his upbringing in Indonesia, Fang's childhood was imbued with Chinese songs shared within his family, fostering an intrinsic bond with Chinese culture. Throughout his decade-long journey in China, he scarcely referred to himself by his original name, Bryan.

Faced with steep overseas study costs and limited opportunities in Indonesian medical schools, Fang turned his sights to the burgeoning landscape of China. In 2013, his medical journey began in Chongqing. At Chongqing Medical University, he not only mastered the language of Chinese and the local language but also immersed himself in pioneering research in the realm of cardiovascular disease.

During his graduate studies, Fang delved deeper into clinical practice. Under the adept mentorship of his instructors, he seamlessly integrated into the rhythms of clinical academia and campus life. Initially, his role was confined to assisting teaching doctors with elementary procedures like hair removal and electrocardiography. However, he swiftly progressed and now proficiently aids in managing multiple patients' conditions.

After becoming a Ph.D. student, under the guidance of his mentor, Fang's medical research reached new heights. He was part of a multidisciplinary team focusing on cardiac amyloidosis, which successfully diagnosed and treated the first case of wild-type transthyretin amyloidosis cardiomyopathy in Chongqing. This notable achievement not only propelled forward the research into this rare condition but also signified a monumental breakthrough for the team. It also marked another major breakthrough for the team, following their diagnosis and treatment prescription for the first case of transthyretin amyloidosis (ATTR-CM) in Chongqing in June 2022.
