Chongqing - On November 6, Souwest China's Sichuan and Chongqing collaboratively released a list of 16 medical projects, during the Forum on Future Medicine Innovation Cooperation.
This partnership underlines a concerted effort to advance research on innovative projects. It is dedicated to the transformative application of vital medical technologies and pioneering products, streamlining their path to market readiness.

As a sub-event of the inaugural Belt and Road Conference on Science and Technology Exchange, the forum garnered the sponsorship of both the People's Government of Sichuan Province and the People's Government of Chongqing Municipality. The gathering attracted a distinguished international delegation comprising 43 attendees from 10 different countries, alongside over 200 eminent experts representing leading research hospitals from home and abroad.
The announced list spans three critical sectors: precise diagnosis, precise treatment, and precise evaluation, encompassing 16 targeted projects. It is an open call for collaboration with the globe's premier teams, aiming to forge novel outcomes, catalyze breakthroughs in pivotal technologies, and convert these into pragmatic scientific advances. Each project may receive up to 10 million yuan (USD 1.37 million) in funding, with the implementation phase in principle not surpassing a two-year timeline.

The forum centers on fostering innovation and cooperative efforts in life sciences and healthcare through scientific and technological partnerships. It zeroes in on medical breakthroughs and the vision for future medicine while deliberating on frameworks for open collaboration. Discussions at the forum are underpinned by exchanging insights on international scientific collaboration, aligned with the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), addressing pivotal challenges in applying life science innovations to enhance public health.
During the keynote presentations, academicians and experts delivered insightful lectures on a wide array of topics. These included the integration of biotechnology in medical practices, advancements in intelligent diagnostic platforms, the evolution and global influence of traditional Chinese medicine, strategies for anti-aging, and maintaining health equilibrium. Furthermore, the forum emphasized fostering medical research partnerships under the auspices of the BRI.
