As the BRI's scope expands, so does the depth of international medical aid, especially within the realm of health cooperation and exchanges among BRI-aligned countries.
He Weiyang, Chief Physician and Professor at the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University and leader of the 9th Chinese medical aid team to PNG, headed a team of 10 to Port Moresby General Hospital, offering medical services for over 400 days.
During their tenure, the medical team provided exemplary service: completing over 6,000 outpatient diagnoses and treatments, conducting more than 500 surgeries, treating over 1,400 overseas Chinese, saving 161 critically ill patients, and training 3,500 local medical staff. Their record stands impeccable, with zero errors and zero accidents. Their expertise made a profound impact locally.
Even after the mission's conclusion, He Weiyang maintained regular communication with PNG's Health Ministry, patients, and colleagues, symbolizing the timeless bond of medical collaboration and reinforcing the sturdy "medical bridge" of China-PNG camaraderie.
