Symposium Highlighting Int’l Communication of Chinese Culture Opens in Chongqing

Chongqing On November 29th, the Center of Chinese and Greek Ancient Civilizations, in collaboration with the China National Archives of Publications and Culture, organized a symposium at Southwest University to discuss and enhance the international dissemination of Chinese culture.

Over 100 experts and scholars from co-building institutions such as the Renmin University of China and Sichuan University participated, engaging in discussions on furthering the center's development and strengthening the international communicative capacity of Chinese civilization to facilitate cultural exchange.

During the opening ceremony, Southwest University President Zhang Weiguo expressed that the center continuously works to improve its management and operational mechanisms, aiming to establish a high-standard system for its development. Southwest University intends to leverage the platform, demonstrative, leading, and radiating roles of the center to contribute to constructing a community with a shared future for humanity.

Liu Chengyong, Director of the China National Archives of Publications and Culture, highlighted the crucial role of the Archives in preserving the seed genes of Chinese culture. He emphasized the Archives' mission to continue the Chinese cultural heritage, strengthen cultural confidence, showcase the image of a great nation, and promote dialogue between civilizations. The Archives expressed its commitment to closer collaboration with the center in the future.

Li Baohai, Secretary of the Chongqing Federation of Social Sciences, pointed out the significance of Sino-Greek cultural exchange in addressing conflicts between human civilizations. The Federation pledged to act as a bridge in terms of project proposals, academic exchanges, and the popularization of social sciences to provide strong support for advancing Sino-Greek cultural exchange and mutual learning.

Ma Ranxi, Deputy Director-General of the Publicity Department of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, emphasized that Chongqing, as a crucial hub for enhancing the nation's international communicative capacity, is integral to constructing the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor. Chongqing wanted to deepen cooperation with the center in academic research, foreign publications, and collaborative dialogues.

Director Cui Yanqiang of the Center expressed the center's commitment to becoming a national-level think tank, a hub for classical civilization research, a symbolic cultural exchange platform, and a strategic base for talent development.

In the afternoon, experts and scholars engaged in discussions and workshops on various topics, including "Civilizational Exchange and Mutual Learning in the Human Historical Process," "Civilizational Interaction and the Construction of International Communication Capabilities," and "Management and Construction of the Center." The discussions covered areas such as religious philosophy, ethical morals, language literature, legal systems, and the institutional mechanisms of the center.

Secretary-General Wang Yong of the Center of Chinese and Greek Ancient Civilizations expressed future collaboration plans with society to actively promote the implementation of the "Belt and Road" education initiative, contribute to the construction of modern Chinese civilization, accurately grasp the inevitable trend of global civilization exchange, and inject vitality into building a socialist culturally strong nation.

Launched in February at the University of Athens, the Center of Chinese and Greek Ancient Civilizations, led by Southwest University and joined by domestic institutions like Renmin University of China, Shandong University, and Sichuan University, collaborates with Greek universities such as the University of Athens, University of Patras, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and the University of Crete. The center aims to advance Sino-Greek cultural exchange, providing spiritual guidance for constructing a shared future for humanity.
